Been out this afternoon and did a shortish ride, 20 miles.

Out along the wirral way and had to take my time as alot of walkers and dog walkers out.

Had a slight mishap as a dog shot out from the undergrowth and so as not to hit it, i had to move over to my right and i brushed against some brambles and caught my upper leg.

As i wear shorts i now have a dotted line of small broken skin bits where i brushed the brambles.

Sadly, they will. But at least they'll be able to "cut along the dotted line"

Yes, nights closing in.

Today was sunny but a slight coolness in the air.

Prefer it cool when on bike as heat generated by the body is less.

Today it was dark by 7.15pm and at end of october we put clocks back 1 hour to GMT so dark circa 4.30pm.

I have been out west in Broken Hill for 10 days, coming back through Murrumbateman/Sutton (near Canberra) on Sunday morning, fair dinkum, several packs of a couple of hundred cyclists coming at me, I  did not want to honk my i30 horn at them, they were probably, Generals, Admirals, Air Marshals and Australian Federal Police Supts, all from the national capital with their bodyguards in tow,  out on their Sunday morning ride and as they do, Lattes afterwards.  I am sure the PM, young Tony Abbott was in the pack in his yellow lycra.

So any of you bike riders, do thee shave thy legs?   :snigger: :snigger:

A plover tried to attack the Calais on a back road near Hobart. There were two of them on the edge of the road and instead of flying away as I approached one of they puffed his chest out and tried to shirt front my 245mm wide tyres.. Never seen so many feathers fly!

Not the Calais!! I just glad wrapped the number plate...  :scared:

I've joined the great cycle challenge: :link: Great Cycle Challenge - Riders - Keith Heinrich

I'm targeting 500km for October which is achievable if the weather is good. Currently doing about 130km a week and planning to get up to 200k a week as soon as reasonably possible.  I'm working on shedding some kg's and so far, so good.

I head out with a bike club Saturdays and those guys hammer along with me hanging right off the back trying to keep up. Hilarious.

The birds are a bit of a nuisance atm. I copped four bird strikes last Saturday but they seem to just bounce off the helmet. Some folks put zip ties on their helmets which seems pointless to me.

I agree about the zip ties. Maggies not gonna hurt you anyway.
And John. I have been attacked by spurwing plovers twice in my life.
They nest on open ground and don't you DARE walk anywhere near them.
The latest was in Darwin last week. Outside my daughter's unit. 4 eggs on the footpath within 6 ft of the road.
I don't hold out much hope for the survival of the young 'uns.

Been out today, first time for some 2 weeks, and did a 28 mile round trip.

As not been on the bike for a while saddle sore has set in.........

Looks as if number of cycle days will be less now we are into the shorter day light hour period but will still try and get out even if just a short trip.

Four months since acquiring the pushy, and the kg's are going away which was the plan. Now fit enough to start climbing up the local mountains which is hard work as you will no doubt be unsurprised to hear.  Turns out I went up the "hard" side which had 17% and 20% grades. And plus it's hot by 0800 as well now. The good news is the downhills are fun hitting over 70km/h in places.

On the way to the mountain.

The road up. 4km to the top starting with a 17% grade.

Looking back down the first climb.

From the top, Glasshouse mountains to the north, Brisbane to the south.

Local hill which I could not ride over in August. Now going to the gym 3 times a weeks as well and the benefits are becoming apparent.

I still need to lose about 20 kg, should be well on the way by this time next year.

 :brilliant:

20kgs .. I don't remember you needing to lose that much before you started the riding!

I am around 92Kg still.. if I lost 10Kg I would (almost) be a chick magnet!

What I mean is I would be quite trim... Last I saw you we were similar in build (portly)

I prefer the term "prosperous".   :D  But 70kg is where I should be.

I like that, I can live with the tag "prosperous" I was 77kg after lots of lovin' with a much younger partner, I looked a bit gaunt. But I had a big smile ☺

Yes, down hill is not much fun on the way home...

We recently walked down hill to the base of a waterfall.. The walk back up nearly killed Trish!  :sweating:
