Just posted this on my FB, thought it might stimulate conversation here too.

So the latest witch hunt by the UK gutter press on Clarkson. I have watched the "offending" clip and can only say that he is using a rhyme all of us of a certain age group remember and remember using daily. The word is at best mumbled but overall is pretty incoherent, could even be ninja. The people making the noise could trawl YouTube for weeks and find lots of our coloured brethren calling each other the real word supposedly used in much plainer fashion and yet somehow that is more acceptable than somebody famous perhaps using it? Get a grip!

I've always believed that being offended by a term used by a 'non-brother' when it is otherwise acceptable and indeed a term of endearment is nothing if not reverse racism.

It appears that some low life in the BBC trawled through clips that were not coherent and not broadcast anyway. It was Clarkson himself who asked to re-record the dialogue because he listened to the tape and felt his mumble might be misinterpreted.

Clarkson works for the Sun newspaper and the video clip was sent to their deadly rivals The Mirror as fuel for a funeral pyre.

They replayed the various versions on the radio a few minutes ago, I couldn't hear the offending word. Though of course I know the original rhyme and maybe I could convince myself that I heard the word in there if I tried hard enough.

A lot of people hate Clarkson with a passion so naturally they jump on anything like this.

I doubt I'd agree with his right-wing politics or many of his views but there are millions of people similar to him. But I'll probably still watch Top Gear, as I always have. He can be quite amusing at times.

From what I've heard on the TV and radio news and read what he is alledged to have said was never aired ................................ SO........................... who has got it in for him.......
