Hi there, I'm not sure if anyone can read this, however here goes:
My new i30 suffers from engine shudder, a strong petrol smell and smoke on cold start up ? Once the ignition is turned off and car restarted everything is ok.
This problem is intermittent and  having left the car overnight the Hyundai service dept were unable to find a problem,. very frustrating. The service dept advised that they were of another similar vehicle with the same problem and that not to worry about it as it would not do any damage to the vehicle?
Can anyone advise if they have similar problems, or what to do next??? thank you

Hi Marcus,  :wttc:

Your message came through loud and clear. Apart from the petrol smell it sounds more like a diesel issue  :undecided:

Several of our active members have family with Petrol accents but so far have heard nothing but good feedback.

Typical dealer response unfortunately. Only thing I can think of is contaminated fuel  :undecided:

Welcome, by the way, Marcus  :drinks:

Thank you for your replies. Sorry I meant i30 Active auto hatch.
The service dept. at Ferntree Gully Hyundai said that they will call me back after escalating the info to Hyundai.
Not sure when this will happen
cheers for now

Marcus, IMO any petrol smell at any time is not good.
There's a safety issue here. I'd be "escalating" it to Hy Aust myself.

Agree with Surferdude. Petrol is extremely volatile and there should never be a smell of petrol anywhere near the engine, which is full of sparks and other electronics.
