Hope somebody out there can help ! I bought a really nice 2011 1.4 manual petrol Hyundai i30 yesterday and am really pleased with it, apart from the fact that it struggles to pull away on 1st gear without over-revving. It almost feels like I am pulling away in 3rd gear, if you can understand that. Any ideas, peeps ? Thank you !

Sounds a bit like a clutch problem. Hopefully only adjustment required (if that is possible)

What sort of RPM are you needing to pull away?

I assume you've driven manuals before yes.

I would say between 3k & 4K and yes, I have only ever driven manual cars. The car shakes as though I am trying to pull away in or am going uphill in the wrong gear

I thought about asking too, don't feel bad.

I guess it's like when recovery come, the first question has to be 'are you sure there's petrol/diesel in?'

Got to be asked  :goodjob: :goodjob: :goodjob:

Nobody need bear any shame and thanks for making me feel welcome with such nice, helpful responses :happydance: I always stop for about 2 seconds when filling up to just check on the right fuel and take a 2nd glance....I am sure people must think " why is he just standing there ? "

Oh dear,
This change of gear
Is not, I fear
The answer clear.
Instead, I hear,
There should appear
An expert peer
Whom all revere
To dispel all fear
And add much cheer
To dry your tear
For the cost of a beer
Ya'hear? :crazy2:

Love it !!!!  By the way, drove the car to the garage and the problem was nowhere to be seen, neither did it appear when I and the garage chap did a test drive. I drove home and it was fine too so perhaps it was just something that was working its' way through the system (like prunes...). Anyway, this brings me to another mystery....why does the CD player display not show the artist/album//track on a bought CD ?

I believe bought CDs are audio only with no additional information. Different outcome when using a CD loaded with MP3s, AVIs, etc. :victory:
