I have been invited to the official Launch of the GD (series 2) i30 on Wedesday the 20th June at 5PM at Motors Don Road Devonport .. Be nice if a couple of our North West Coast Members could make it  :D  ..

Fatboy (Jamie) is a bit far away in Hobart and Jamiec in Tullah is a good two hours drive away .. Maybe KK will see this and anyone else who has been lying low (I will probaly have my Leather Jacket and Black Cap on...plus some pants)

They are a bit slow off the mark as the Launceston Yard had 4 on display when I was there today (but they were closed and I only had my Sony Cedar phone with me) :-[ I wentfor a little drive and ended up in Launceson(100kms away)

They look smaller than the outgoing model in the flesh (I know it is only an illusion) Not cheap but they had a $1000 Myer (upmarket department store) voucher with them...

Dress code = neat casual.

An odd thing to put on an invite to a car launch.
More for a formal do unless they are expecting the local press to attend and take photo's and they don't want the, well you can probaby guess..., bad taste/funny photo's.

What would they be expecting people to turn up in - Fancy dress??

Have you got a penguin suit?  go it that

30k for the Elite Diesel?

Looking more and more like my next car will be the I40, unless Kia kick in with some diesel platforms.

Though, they are the launch prices, so they will no doubt fall once the race is over to be the first to own them.

The petrol one indicates 1.8L GDI, is that just a mistake? Hyundai website lists it as Sequential Multi-Point Fuel Injection (MPI).

Once they hear you are cheating on them with Toyota, you'll be driving an 1990 Excel.  :scared:

The launch went well. I guess there was about 40 people there including about a dozen staff.. Doesn't sound like a lot but the weather has been foul today.... Windy, wet and miserable (so you have to be keen to go out)..

I cheated and sat in a red base model in Burnie today (had the day off) and took some other photos of a nice pigeon pair of Clean blue i30's (also in Burnie) a base model (active) GD hatch and and older but still very nice FD SR hatch (Both waiting to be collected by happy new owners)  :happydance: Photos to come later ...

They had a Santorini Blue Active and a Silver Elite (mid range) at the launch .. I got a few photos when most of the people had gone.

I met a nice fella called Mike who is a member and bought his SX CRDi CW on our recommendation a couple of years ago.  :happydance:

I gave out about half a dozen cards to i30 owners / prospective owners..

Had a couple of light beers and a good feed  :goodjob:

I did nearly get my mouth taped up when the salesmen found out who was pointing out how the base model has the nicer colour coded front and how it only has a spacesaver spare .. :snigger: The Elite did have a full size Alloy spare though..

I also grabbed a full brochure so I can answer any queries without going to the website

Sounds like it was a good day.  Shame about that Northern Tassie weather.  We had a cold but sunny day today.  A little snow on the mountain for the first time this winter too.

Windy, wet and miserable

That's pretty much how I've been today  :)
Onya Dazz - look forward to the pics.
And I'm glad you had a good couple of beers and a light feed too.  :goodjob:

Daz, did they tell you the spacesaver wheel with the Active is only a temporary measure? (no pun intended)  :)

They didn't seem to know that :undecided: Luke (the "new" New Car Sales Manager) said he wasn't happy about it and would probably make a deal with one of the local Tyre places to fix it ...

Ok, Aaron, the guy I saw, said they were having trouble sourcing enough wheels which is why they've gone the spacesaver....

Guess we'll find out down the track......
