Just a few photos (not all taken at the Launch.. For example the clean blue cars were both sold and waiting for collection in Burnie Tasmania (although no Rego plates?)

This is the first SR I have seen in the clean blue colour (same as Trish's CW) I think it looks great ...

Active(Base Model) in the new Blue (Satorini Blue)

SpaceSaverSpare in Base Model (Other models get a full size Alloy) and this might change in the base model shortly

1.8 petrol motor (No Diesels on show but basically the same engine as the FD version)

Back of the Elite..

Interior of Mid Range Elite..

Love the new styling.  Looks great I think.  Not really very happy with the dealer I bought mine from a fortnight ago as he said they didn't know when the new model was coming out.  Pretty obvious they did and were trying to get rid of the old models.  I still would have bought this one at the price I got it for but it is just the principal of it.

Same Dealer (Motors) does all of Tassie ..That is a poor sales tactic (as you say you probably got a better price but so you should...)

If you contact Hyundai Australia with that complaint I would think they should investigate it and it would be a worthwhile exercise.
Maybe give the dealership principal the opportunity to put it right first, if you want to get one of the new models.
If you didn't ask and they didn't tell you, then you probably wouldn't have much of a case IMO.
But if the matter was discussed and you were specifically told that they didn't know when the new model was going to be released, then you would have a case because that information has been public knowledge for quite some time and the dealership sales staff would certainly have been aware.

I definitely asked the question and was told "sometime later in the year". I don't know what price even is on the new 2.0 petrol manual.

That has pissed me off now. I paid $2000 dollars less than that for the old model. They told me that was below cost... Seems a little unlikely now.

I suspect it's not as bad as it seems, Taz, as I reckon those prices don't include dealer delivery or on road costs..... :undecided:

Check here to get a better idea of the on road prices.....

Thanks rusty. That makes sense. I paid 18,990 on road and I noticed that the rego alone was over 1000.

I thought I posted this Picture of the prices on display on the night (but can't see it?) They had a Series 1 1.6 Petrol FD Hatch on display in the Showroom for $20,590 driveaway which I thought was expensive seeing as it was only the 1.6 base model....

i like the darker blue...not sure on the styling of the backend though - i would need to see it in person to decide

don't they make 2.0 petrol models anymore?

The darker blue is Santorini Blue I think and it does look nice.
I actually like the rear end styling - looks very European to me and more modern.
They rationalised the 2.0 litre and 1.6 litre engine range and now just provide a 1.8 litre petrol plus the 1.6 litre diesel, so just two engines in all.

The 1.8 engine is a newer design with similar output to the old 2.0 but better economy (about 10% improvement).. :goodjob:

Does the 1.8 have a cam chain or belt, they need to loose the belt big time

The Hyundai Nu engine features a maintenance-free silent timing chain system to enhance durability and improve Noise Vibration and Harshness (NVH).

Nothing really. It's just the designation given to the new model by Hyundai. The previous one was FD. The next one might be HD  :undecided:
The same as VN Commodore, VP, VR, VS, VT, etc. over here.

What's wrong with "VD" anyhow?  :p

Is it really any worse than using "RS" ?
