I bought a roll of non-slip matting to cut and line the storage compartments
in the dash. Only $2.95 for 5ft. Will stop any rattles or things sliding
around. Will also protect the dash as well.

That was the first things I did (First day home)
One little oblong under the two power outlets, then two round ones for where your drinks go, in the middle.
Phone doesn't 'rattle' anymore when cornering.

Any pics of this simple mod?

I don't have my i30 yet so will post when i do.

Hey Dave... You've been amazingly patient (keeping busy with the club must have helped) What is the latest ETA?
-
Will be ready to pickup sometime this week. And yes if it wasn't for this site
i might have gone crazy or even bought a different car.

Very nice Dave but why didnt you go for a bright colour, Maybe hot pink to match the frangipenni air -refreshiners hanging from the mirror LOL.
Carpets could use a vacumn. Could use another 12v outlet by the look as well!

Free Mod.
Was fiddling around the other day and tried to remove the ashtray. You can't, but found that you can remove an insert in the ashtray and increase its internal size (no good if you want to use it as an ashtray). Makes for a nice little storage compartment for keys, loose change, memory cards, etc. I've lined it with some matting to stop the rattles.

Mats are from my old Getz SXi (The one I traded in on the i30) Yeah, they need a clean!
As for power outlets, well, one is for the GPS/Phone, the other for the 300w 12v/240v inverter.
I would have loved one either in the boot, or in the center console.
Hmm, new mod, 12v power outlet for the boot.........
*Ponders*

Sorry Dave, and Thumper,
Wrongly identified who had posted the pics of the non slip mats.
I will be looking out for the non slip rubber and doing likewise.

You can get a one into 4 converter for the 12 volt outlet (think K-mart even have them!)
