Hope you enjoy this one (Try and spot the two i30's in the video - Blue Hatch and Red Hatch)

I made a boo boo halfway through.. (said the same thing twice)

Oh yeah.. and anyone who knows the area, I am going the wrong way through the scenic drive and Penguin (But it looked better and the light was better going home)  :P

Really enjoyed the trip.
The music and commentary goes well.

Can't get over how quite the roads are compared to where I live.

Also, there seems to be plenty of on road parking within the shopping area.
Do they charge for on road parking?

Cheers Daz.

some of our towns have parking meters, where we pay by the hour, but the smaller places do have free parking

Thoroughly enjoyed that... vid & music... excellent mate :goodjob:

As for mentioning the Sunday market twice, that won't exonerate you from the wrath of the Penguiners

It's about A$1.20 per hour (Monday to Friday 9.00 to 5.30 /Saturday until about 1pm) In Burnie and Devonport.. Smaller places like Ulverstone and Penguin are free but still have time limits (Hour or two)

Maybe it was the video recorder, or maybe it's my expectation, but all your vids seem to show the Oz driving style as being rather... "sedate" so to speak. Relaxed motoring, steady overtakes, gradual approaches to traffic control signals etc.

Plus you get better music on your radios  :whistler:

Jees, I wish I lived there...  :drinks:

I think it is just the way the hybrid drives.. I can make her lift her skirts up pretty easily but it's more enjoyable to just cruise and I got used to just easing up to the lights in the CRDi (for economy)  :goodjob:

Lakes reckons we drive more leasurely in Tassie than the mainland too....

Come to think of it I did have to zip in and out of the traffic a lot more agressively in Perth and Adelaide :sweating:

Nice video, Daz..... :goodjob:
I remember having a Counter Tea at the pub opposite the "Spirit of Tasmania" intersection where you turned left (at the start of your drive). Also recall checking out Macca's around the corner there too....  :D

Crracking vid Dazz, I see what you mean about Tas looking like Scotland, also pretty similar to Ireland, Wales and the Lake District (but with sunshine!) :goodjob: :goodjob: :goodjob:

Well done  :)

Thanks everyone.. I quite enjoy doing them (fair bit of work while I'm learning the software - but I like to learn on the job)

The one I do of our trip to Hobart will be quite different topography

I have visited Australia 4 times - business and pleasure - but never got to Tasmania. Your video has filled a hole in my knowledge - most interesting. Especially the lack of heavy traffic and the seemingly good driving standards compared with other places.... :goodjob:

Don't let the video fool you....most drivers on Australian roads are atrocious!  They'd struggle to drive a greased finger up their own.....um, nevermind..... :-[

Really enjoyed this video Daz, very interesting, nicely put together and editing was great  :goodjob:

You have inspired me to have a go at doing one myself and you have probably already confirmed this on the forum, but what equipment did you use and how did you go about mounting it m8y.

Hi Starseeker .. Thanks for the feedback  :D

I'll try again (did a great big post and it errored out and was not recoverable  :sweating:)

I used this cheap little HD (720p) camera with no optical zoom (velcroed to the dash)

It was edited with Adobe VideoStudio Pro V4 (you could use some free software of CNET - look for a freeware/shareware video editor that is well rated)

at 720 resolution a 10 minute file is around 800 or 900 MB which is a big upload at our internet speed so I use a free program called Divx Converter (which will still convert files even once the trial expires) to reduce the file to about a quarter of the size at the same resolution...

Please feel free to PM me if you need any further info or advice  :goodjob:

Hi Daz, thanks for the info and offer of help.

I have a camera very similar looking to yours made by Sony and will try as you did by using some Velcro.  I also have a Samsung Wave mobile phone which seems to have a decent little camera on it, so I might also see if there is maybe a mount available for it.

Thanks again and I’ll look forward to your next vid

well done Dazz! truly enjoyed the vid! i might have to do one of my drives here in Sydney ... maybe show the "unsedated" way of driving in OZ   haven't done a drive-vid for a while ... i've got one of those adjustable camera holder brackets (from Jaycar) that go on the posts of the headrests. only issue i had with it is because its about a metre away from the windshield so if the glass is not clear & the vidcam is on autofocus the focus goes on & off

Got this little camera finally from Ebay (via China) - took exactly a month  :sweating: was around A$35 including postage and think it is similar to one that Shambles had? Don't you love the English Translations (some nice sentiments) :D

It is only 720 x 480 compared to 1280 x 720 with the other camera we are using .. so probably a waste of money!!

Yeah that's the one Dazz. Yep, it's not too clever :P but reasonable fun.

I've got two of them but don't use either. The video bobbles around due to the stalk that the camera mounts with, and it's hard keeping the date/time set, unless you get into the routine of never switching it off.

Still, each of mine came with a class 4 8gb uSDHC card, so not all was wasted :)
