I had a 2007 Audi Avant before I swapped it for an i30. Mine was Steel grey.

Nice car but very thirsty, high insurance and road tax, and I never did get comfortable in the seats.

I had it for nearly 3 years and had a series of niggly reliability problems - mainly electrical with lights, locks, window winders, battery failure, washers, and then the tiptronic auto box which played up - all within warranty.

I couldn't risk heavy costs so I got rid of it before the warranty expired and traded it for a new i30.

Sorry to be a party pooper but I truly prefer the i30 and have now owned 3.

HI mate, sorry to hear you had so many issues =/  not good to hear, was it the TDI model ?

I have heard many things as well about these cars but most my mates have Audies and dont have any issues, and I know that the model I am getting does not have that many "faults " on the front linkage " issue that is mostly common, i have a 12 month " used car " warranty on this car so I recon if it gets difficult within that I will be safe =)

but thanks for the warning I know what I am getting into I just hope I am not as unluck as you =/.

Glac will probably change it so much they won't honour the warranty. They will reckon it is a different car :winker:

So I got a mate of mine to test drive the car since I cant, and he found some interesting things,

This is the main one (https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/27332977/IMG_5606.jpg)
as you can see there is a issue with the paint on the rear booth, I know for a fact this is not rust but somthing else, I am sure and HOPE this can be a warranty thing I think its wierd a 2007 model car has this, but oh well, I guess thats what I ge for getting a good price car, everything else was perfect mint condition especially the interior, cant wait to drive tomorrow to get it, and show you guys pictures ! =D

take care all

Don't Audi's have aluminium bodies. Having said that, aluminium is just as reactive to certain elements, like salt water etc.  :(

They do and its " galvanized " as well so this should not happen, I will take a closer look tomorrow once I get to the dealership  after the 1459 km drive :P

Just as a cautionary word, if this is uncommon, might it not indicate poorly repaired accident damage?

Just be careful is all I'm saying... Don't let your desire to own such a car blind you to possible pitfalls. :goodjob2:

Why is there light grey at the top right in the circle on the right?

Shouldn't all be the same darker colour...

Because its dirty :P car has not been detailed in that picture,

Yeah I am hopin this is a warranty thing It mostly 99% of time is, this is the main thing this has rest of the car is prestine mine condition, so it a good buy and the Quattro makes it so much better to drive in winter time.

4x4.

My lad had a quattro TT and that held the road as if on a track.

However, he started to have an issue with the 4 wheel drive.

Never really got it sorted.

Ok it was a few years old but.........

So I am back with my baby , and I have to say WHY did I not get a Audi earlier this is one amazing MACHINE! omg, I had such a good time driving it home, best car i have driven ever, Its just perfect for our winter roads, and it handles like a dream,

Yeah I need new brake disks and it has a stone chip here and there, and an issue with the paint but my god what a CAR!... I loved my I30 I really did, but compare to this the Quattro drive is something out of this world, , I had a really good time driving my I30 down but had some serious bad weather, i had fog most of the drive and I only had a  1-3 meter of visability it was VERY scary, but I am glad I got there safe, and I took a different route with my Audi and also had some fog but not as bad,

I drove Sweden down and Norway back in a total of 3100 km drive! insane but loads of fun

Wierd bit is that I had to fuel the i30 on the way down 3 times almost, and on way back I only filled the Audi up 1 1/5 time, so in fuel  / diesel consumption they are nothing like, so all in all very happy with what I got and I will take some pictures cus it is GREY and not black! and i LOVE the color =)

Aww sorry guys, I do miss my i30, its nos doubt about that I still hold it as my dearest car, I have ever had, but because of it no be 4x4 I was so afraid I would kill it here in North =/ , but I do miss it I loved the look of it and the way it treated me,

I have had some issues with the Audi now, the wheels are not balanced, which I will do today, and there is a EGR valve thing i gotta fix, the car has some issue on low RPM so I will " blind " the valve and It might be all better

Also yesterday I had a test on the car, found out it has had a massive crash in2008, which I and the sales mann and the previous owner did NOT know, so the reason the paint is bad on booth and wheel arch is because of bad work =/

So the car might be totally resprayed from what I can tell but I will let you know, technical wise car is outstanding and there is no issues, since the crash the car has multiple parts changed so in a sense all those parts are 1-2 year newer then the car it self =) not bad really,

Some people like Alan, pass on good 2nd hand cars, but there is an element of risk, too.

Hope Glac's repairs are done satisfactorily.

Sorry to hear about the previous history but as long as it was repaired to audi specifications all should be ok.

Here in uk we can do a check on a cars history prior to buying.

Here is one such company that does it,

https://www.hpi.co.uk/home/

Is that available for you?

I would be a bit concerned the garage didn't know AND the previous owner.

Take you are the 3rd owner.

So any redress with the garage?

HI guys

Yeah its a bit sad, but I should have done my research which I did not =/  fail but I learn,

the salesman and the 2nd owner never knew anything about it,  the 1st owner is the only one and it was 1 year after he bought it new in Norway, so consider it all it was done at factory standards and its no problem at all even though its not nice to know, I still can be happy that those parts are newere then the rest of the car and those parts are expensive, like waterpump and so on =)

So I had something interesting found out yesterday  after i had the car wheels on " balancing " my mate founds LODAS of rubber inside on of the tires, this is insane, they have run the wheels on the tire it self when it was flat cus its has a mark there and all the rubber was inside and that was making the car have some vibration"

here is a picture
(https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/27332977/Audi/1460247_10151957078643334_1002632483_n.jpg)
as you can see it was quite a lot =)

And there was very thick dirt inside the wheels, as you can see here not good pic but its around 1 cm thick! quite insane my mate had to spend 1 hour cleaning the wheels for it to be good enough.
Before
(https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/27332977/Audi/1450847_10151957078723334_527475310_n.jpg)

AFter =)
So he improved them alot.

also I noticed last night there i a color diffrenece in the " hue " in the fender and rest of the car, I know they are respryed but it can only be seen in side the garage light its a bit annoying but its not very much IN your face but I know it now and it bugs me :P
(https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/27332977/Audi/1392940_10151957076873334_1339928475_n.jpg)

And last night I had my mate come over with a friend how is a body repair man and he check ALL over my car, welds seems and so on, he found NOTHING wrong with my car, which I am so happy about, because I was afraid that panels where changed etc, but he found nothing wrong or out of the ordinary only that my rear doors has " sunk" a bit but that was it

Thats about it all in all after the tires where fixed and re balanced my car handles like a DREAM love it, it was icy today but I did not notice it at all it so good to drive =D

Also Might get my rear booth and rear side left fender re sprayed cus of bad work for free.
Just wanted to let you all know how it goes

So the panels have not been replaced then just resprayed?

Is the car actually "as advertised?"

If not there could be a very strong case for the car to be presented as it was represented in any advert...

Yes and no , its not really, it had more " paint " damage then they said, and it was not as good condition, some parts of the car looks mint and some dont  like rear bumper that has clear coat flaking, and same with the front fenders which are a differnt color, but interior and stuff is brand new looking.

I should ask for new tires as they are not up to today standar, but I just hope they pay for the paint then I will let it slide , but I should really ask for new tires really =/  but will see.

Remember when my black car was repaired the paint did not match and went back twice to be sorted.

Hi

That thing is well known on VW and Audi's, especially on the tailgates.

We used to call it "zincbubbles". It is rust under the paint, so you must get it fixed, but as you've the used car warranty, the dealer should pay for it. It's not rust from the inside.

Send the pic to the dealer, where he can see the number plate as well, and if he agrees to pay for it, ask if you can let a local dealer do the repaint of the tailgate. That could save you a lot of driving.
We sometimes did that if we had sold a car to someone in the other end of the country, and we are talking about little Denmark where 500 km would get you across the country.  :D

Just to let you all know, I recently found 3 of those on my 2008 i30 tailgate, so not even Hyundai is without this issue.

Hello fellas!! its been a while now! sorry i have been afK to busy with house

SOrry I havent been much active but I am here now and then,

updating news on my status on my cars etc

So I found out just this week that my car has almost been TOTALED!   it had damage worth of 260,000 nok which equals to around 43,000 $ dollars =/ , all the panels on the car EXCEPT the roof and rear fenders have been changed lol , its insane, so this was never said to be when i bought the car and in Norway this is a fault that should have been told to me, cus they would have known this,

Also found out that the " flywheels "is almost worn out , so that needs replacing its around 5000$ to change =/  its also something they told me was OK but again it was not, so I have 2 options now.

1 get my old car back and forget this audi shit =/

2. Make thempay for all the repairs, pain , flyhweel etc , and keep the car

I have not made my mind up yet, but because of this great community i might get my old car back as they still have it =). and I also miss my i30.

If they fix all the stuff I have made a list of to them I will keep the car, but I find it unlikely as i payed A LOT More for the car thati its worth .

I will keep u guys posted ! take care

and happy after easter =D

Hi Glac,

Sorry to hear your news, if I remember, one of the reasons for selling your I30 was the road to your house. I remember you saying that the i30 would get damaged if you kept it. Is the road still the same or has it been improved.

We'd love to see you back with an i30, but whatever is best for you of course.

Good luck with your negotiations.  :hatoff:

HI Phil

Yeah the main reason for the Audi was the 4x4 system, and yes the road has been improved but its not 100% yet =/

I cant see my i30 manage the hill in winter time, thats why I got the audi cus i have had no problems except that one time to drive up in snow/ice and so on it has been amazing,
(https://scontent-b-fra.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash3/t1.0-9/1975005_10153858811655487_541002186_n.jpg)

As you can see here how the road is its not that bad now it used to be worse, but when this is icy and snowy, no FF car can get up there xD haha

yeah mate basic all " dealers " are obligated to tell the person that buys the car EVERYTHING about it and hte history of the car,
even though they didt not know it has been damaged, it still makes the responsible, so in the end it all falls back to the dealership,
and I am telling them that if they want me to keep the car, they would have to fix the faults INSTANTLY or I will give the car back and try find another car, or get my old back, ,problem there there will be about the old car, is that the idiot left my old car out in the contract so it says no where that I traded my old car in for this one, =/ so that means I cant claim it back without buying it <.<.

Anyway Norway state laws are good and I can complain and i will win cus they have digged their own grave when he ticked under " has not been badly " damamged in my contract .
Cus the car has been damaged SO bad it was almost unusable, and The paint is really bad so I will get them to respray the car cus its such a bad paint job =/ .

From what you are saying i would be requesting a full refund plus compo.

It would appear that no matter what is done to the car it will cause you problems when you sell it later and the resale value will be very low.
Plus you will have to declare its history...

Get rid and buy another, even if it is your i30.

Re not detailing p/x on invoice.
You have proof re transfer document  to dealer don't you plus monetary figure?

So some changes made,

I finally am done with my car issues, car is working pretty good now, and 1 year after i started the " law suit "  I ended up with  1000 € and a Flywheel, its not much but they where so stubborn and refused to do anyhing , and they also started creating a case on my OLD car <,<  so i jus got fed up .

So today I have a car thats acutally working Ive changed , brakes, pads, and disks, all over, new hose turbo inlet. so and the main thing that fixed my car was REMOVING and disabling the EGR valve I kid you not that thing is a PAIN and should not have been added, after i took and "blinded" it and took off the connector my car has been runinig like its new!  so im so glad now

I have done the follwing as well  "plastidiped my wheels, black matte , with a silver metalizer on top for a more color close to my car, removed all the old plastidip on car and vinly cus I will re vinyl everythig ON my car that is chrome to shiny black <3

So here are some pics =)D

Hi guys! hope you are all doing ok

Loads of stuff has happend this summer. . some good things and some bad,... i decided to remove all the red vinyl on my car and keep it black and clean also did some detailing like fixing stonechips and grinding down small rust on my inner fender front .

Also me and my gf has decided to split up and move apart its heartbreakning for me as i I love her, but we have grown apart and we both decided its  best to stay friends not just for our child sake but also because of how we are now.

I will move soon and have my soon 40%of the time, as she needs to have  60% to gain benefit as she has 3 kids.

so thats my life now, I will also sell my audi and get a New car. this is the car i hope i will get

:link: FINN ? Honda Civic (http://m.finn.no/car/used/ad.html?finnkode=79765339&fks=79765339)

Where i live its very hard to find a CLEAN and rust free Civic but this is imaculate and i cant wait toget my hands on it ..  hope you all are doing better then me

Here is pics of my car after the clean and stuff

And so the story goes on .... I  am to this day so mad at my self for getting this car .. i am sorry for ranting but this car has made me lost my gf and my sense .

On Thursday we had it at the shop, waiting for info on what might be wrong with it  as I felt there was something off.
as the car kept going into limp mode etc.
I checked turbo my self and it was not the issue.

also the car made a " clunk " noise when the engine was runing as well deep tone one not light like it normal but like a deep base one.
anway I got my car back later that day and got some info on what might be wrong,

and They fixed the limp mode,  then i got told what might be wrong .

: The camshaft needs replacing an the lifting sensors and lifters needs replacing
: Vacum inlet and pipe needs replacing.
: Seals need raplacing.
: And topseal needs replacing

So a BIG ass job ... here is me thinking well it cant be more then 1500 $ right ? that would be insane  like there is  a lot to do but ive seen parts online for this for under 400 $

So Monday comes along i get the mail from them and holy balls in my hopscotch hell ( sorry langauge here )

and i look at the parts and then the final bill sum

 6500$!!!!! lolo

The parts it self i found online but theirs might be GOLD PLATED aha like wtf xD

I just looked at it and started litrally crying. Im so done witht this car, right now my car is worth  0  ebecause of this .

But thank for  have good friends me and my mate will get a NEW motor and change this one out, same engine just a newer one,

I am just gobsmacked that it cost so much to change these parts.

But i wish i never got this car

Its the worst deciscion of my life. and i should have listen to you guys and kept my beloved I30 = /

Anyway Im thinking of getting this car now :link: FINN ? Kia Cee'd (http://m.finn.no/car/used/ad.html?finnkode=84995524)  i really like the look of this

But for sure it wont be another german car unless im rich

But i was thining KIA, Huyndai or Toyota or honda= ) i will let you know

Hope you have a splendid day guys! =)

Sorry for being away so long just been cought up in a lot of stuff in my life moving out being single taking car of my son etc.

cheers

So My car, my Audi loll its been on and off with this thing, but I have finally now manage to FIX the car its now 120%  OK and i can use it for some more years .

I cant sell it as i will lose 6000$ on the sale and I have no intention of losing that much

so the car I was at MOT for check EU test and It didn't pass , rusted brake lines at the rear and a front suspension under carriage issue where one of of the seals where broken.

So little over 1 month ago I had to change some stuff to make sure it would go thru MOT , I got told that other then those bits i had to check out the " vacuum manifold "
as the man said that it felt lose and it leaks fake air.

So after looking online and stuff I found some video on how to change the seal and how to disassemble it, as i have not a clue about engines.

I bought a seal for 20£ and then i went on to fix it.
I first asked the repair shop how much they wanted for it m they wanted 1300$ so i said  hell no! I will do it my self .

After some tinkering I was on Saturday in a garage working late, and i manage to take it apart,  to my horrifying discovery, there where 5 Screws missing!!!  out of 8 ,,, i have not a clue whats going on with this car but it seems to be missing screws all the time.

So i had to wait over the weekend for the car to be fixed, got some new hardcore bolts on it and then assembled it on Monday night.

While fixing it I also realized the car leaks air or something from the Cooler tube from EGR , but It was a simple fix

After I did all this it cost me 2-4 hours of my time and 20£ so why repair shop wanted 1300 $ i have not a clue.

Anyway The week goes on And I feel the car is losing " power " and I was first thinking it might be the leakage from the EGR tube, but i was not sure.

Getting to Friday I tried to drive home and i have no power AT all Like I had to really PUSH hard on acc pedal for max torque like i was hitting 6-7000 RPs for it go move it was really odd .  I knew by doing this my clutch would fry but i had no choice as i had to get home to get my son on Friday as he was sick and it was my weekend to have him.

After getting halfway home in a uphill struggle my car suddenly said  SMACK! and then i had no gears, no clutch nothing .... first i thought my gearbox was dead but i manage to get it in gear after stopping the car  ( thank god )  , and i then figured the most obvious thing was the flywhee, and i was right. ... so SUPER nice timing right ? ..........

After calling AAA and stuff I got a ride back to my house got my son and we went home,

I get a call about my car saying they got the car and wanted to know where i want the car delivered.
I said NOT at the repair shop as it would be to costly.

I want it home to me, he then mentions to me that they have a shop and can fix my car.. .. and i was like really ?  that's good.

They only wanted to charge 400 $ for the repair of flywheel and clutch super nice price as the "main repair " shop wants 1780$
I have the flywheel from before as I got that for free from the shop i got the car from and i just had to get a new clutch set for 300$.

So i ordered the part and then I sent them the parts.

So this Easter I was just resting I got to borrow a car from my mate so its all good.

But then the "AAA " repair shops calls me and first I'm like WTF is it now with thiscar .. lol.................

I pickup and ask was up, hes like  we have your car fixed and its now All 100% OK! and derivable, so no damage to gearbox etc....

IM like NICE!  can i have it back soon . hes like sure but we need the otherparts first for the MOT EU approval... sure so i had to get those parts as well..

So after some chit chat he then tells me that they had the gearbox down and they said there was SQREWS missing on the GEARBOX and STARTER ..... now WHY am I not surprised!! Jesus this car ..

But he said they fixed it as they had bolts / screws laying around

But yeah insane MONTH for this time, but I will get my car back this weekend and I'm Excited,  Just  a lot of stress  but hopefully this will be the end of that , I cant sell the car as I have to much left of the loan.

But yeah insane month for me lol!  sorry for long text and thank you if you read it all

Plans for me this summer is new wheels and maybe full vinyl wrap we will see =?D Keep you posted

$900 :Jaw: it took me 30 years to justify spending $125 on private plates and ours last for life :crazy1: :)

Good stuff Glac!  :happydance: Yeah, not cheap, but great if you can have your 1st choice which is the obvious one.  :goodjob2: :goodjob:

Ours were $295 each for a 3 letter 3 number Combo DAZ001 / EYE030 (lifetime cost) but if I'd gone for something fully personalised like DAZZLER or GLACIUS it was $1000 (although again lifetime) Yours were cheap Craig! These were our 1st personalised plates.

Yeah I didn't bother with the full personalised type, I just wanted the new black with silver characters (platinum plates) to get the colour match, they finish off that whole black silver look I've got going on🙂

haha xD yeah If i had my i30 i would have used that one loL!

yah 900 is a LOT ! its to much I just payed 20$ for new plates on my car just 1 week ago, so the personal plate is like 99,5 % more expensive haha but they say that most of the sum gets put to road safety  i dont believe them haha xD

Hi Glac,

While it looks in sensational physical condition for it's age (unlike me) I did have the same thought as Steve when I initially saw it.

The Auto Transmission in that model can be expensive to fix and they can be troublesome in that age of i30. Mind you most of the Valve Body Transmission issues seem to be in the Korean built version from what I've seen.

Your record with getting ripped off is not good!  :sweating:

Can you get good money for your existing car. How far do you have to go to test drive the CW?

If you do test drive it and there is any hesitation in reaction when you select a gear (particularly reverse) walk away... :undecided:

I understand how you feel, but be very cautious.

Post by: Glacius on September 19, 2017, 13:39:12
Well this car is in Haugesund So I cant test drive it =/  its like a 1 day drive or more.

I also like the look of this car its how i wanted my old car to be, the condition seems spotless but I know for a faqt many  " dealerships " are " faking " the look of the cars so I need to get a friend of mine to go see it.

Also I didt know the trouble about the Automatic transmission thanks for letting me know, how can I find out if my mates drives it if its broken or not ?
so its only when you try to get it in Reverse  if it is " slow " and wont go in instantly its a insta walk away ?

I wont get more then 90.000 nok for my car its around 12,000 $ AUD  so i would have to pay something in between it sucks but Im REALLY tired of the Audi, its just caused me trouble, lost the love of my life and my house because of it , so i really do not want to have it any longer.

And I also need a car that is cheaper to keep insurance and use wise.

Thanks for looking out for me Dazz I will keep you posted, this is nOT final decision I just love the look of this.

No worries Glac, I've had a fairly up and down life, so have empathy with people in your situation.

Yes, if your friend test drives it he needs to look out for any unusual delays in the transmission when selecting Reverse or Drive.

If you get a chance browse through the problems section for the site and check out the threads about the Auto Transmission problems.

It's not every FD auto by any means but enough to make me nervous. My impression is, without doing an official tally that the worst affected was 2010 Korean built CWs??

The look of the paint in the photos is so good that I would also get him to carefully inspect the body for overspray on the rubbers and around the open boot and bonnet. I'm wondering if it's had a respray after an accident. You've been there done that.

Mind you it could have just been garaged and well cared for. Hopefully it has the books to confirm service history too.  :undecided:

and this now  :link: FINN ? Hyundai i30 (https://www.finn.no/car/used/ad.html?finnkode=101980670)

And this last one has  a VERY clean look but as you said it could be respray but i belive this last one i posted was a garage car =)
and if you translate you see they say it has records of all stuff done done to it

The first link is a nice car but not sure what history is

I will see what it takes me to, I just know I want to move on from the audi xD

Hi guys!  happy new year ! and stuff ..  man this year has gone by fast and good and bad stuff has happened.

Firstly I have not gotten a new car, i still have the audi because I wont get enough money back from the car sales wise to cover the loan so hence i still haveit =
I just changed  both drive axles front , and handbrake wire and a turbo inter cooler tube, so I HOPE i do not have to change anything anytime soon

But I hope that this year I MIGHT change my  car out but it all depends.

Anyway I hope you had a great year and a new year.  I currently did some photoshop work this new year as i did not fell well.  Let me know your thoughts  , its based on the LAMBO URUS. I posted it in media section

So quick CAR Update....   my car is officially dead, the  turbo died, the camshaft was worn and i knew that had to be done but the worst part is the " inside engine " injectors, the engine has had " diesel"  into the engine for a while so the oil was really light and poor, so the car has had its last run sadly ,  = / I am pretty sad but  I have ordered a new engine for 1500 $ with freight from southern norway to get it fixed.
I could repair what is on it now but  It might have internal damaga that I can not see so its better to get a " used " engine " that comes with ALL parts even turbo, with 3 months warranty =)

But as soon as this car is fixed up im selling it ASAP, and im going back to Huyndai i30 , or  i40 not sure yet but Its NEVER gonna be Audi again .

I am so tired and over this car and this final part just made me decide to payout the car loan and just sell it as cheap and fast as possible, it was the worst mistake of my life but you learn by doing .

I will let you guys know with updates whats gonna happend, but  expect me to get back into the  Huyndai life I miss that =)

hope you all had a better time then me take care
