But iirc I switched to instant readout and was shown 68mpg.

So do they now have two instant readouts, the sliding bar AND a numerical?

The i40 has the sliding bar (which is also always at max when cruising, even with the petrol!) and an average for the tank (resets when the fuel flap is open or can be configured to be reset by user if wanted).

My 2013 i30 Style tourer had only the sliding bar instant economy read-out limited to 50 mpg.

The only numeric one was the average mpg read out which you had the option to reset manually or automatically upon it detecting that fuel had been added.

My Venga has three numeric mpg read -outs.
Instant,
mpg since last fill (which can also be reset manually if desired)
mpg since last reset.

Now I've had time to play while not at motorways speeds

it looks like I got it wrong.

Nothing's changed... a sliding scale (delimited by 50mpg) and an instant 'overall' mpg since last reset - currently only 61mpg now that I've been trundling around

Answered my own question. The Style Nav is like the Elite here but with the active instrument cluster.
