The latest edict from the EU is that vacuum cleaners with motors above 1600 watts will be banned for sale from next month - and the limit will be reduced to 900 watts in 2017.
:link: BBC News - Ten days left to vacuum up a powerful cleaner (http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-28878432)
This is to reduce electricity usage across Europe and save the planet.
But will this really work? - if your cleaner is a feeble sucker (I nearly typed that incorrectly) - won't it have to be used for longer to get up all the dust which a powerful machine would have sucked up in one quick pass.
Our two vacuum cleaners are 2200 and 2400 watts respectively. We will have to make them last.

Earlier today I ordered two Vax power cleaners, reduced from £99 to £39.50 on the Tesco website. 1800W cleaners. They're gonna fly off the shelves.
Time to give Brussels the finger...

I might have to vote Farage..... Desperate Dave ain't gonna do nowt and Mr Millipede, well what can one say....
Looks like were stuffed. We'll all have to move to Ozz

Voting for Fartage will probably get you Miliband. Nigel will mainly be taking votes from Tories and only Dave has said he'll have a referendum after renegotiation.
Neither of my vacuum cleaners are as high as 1600 watts, yet they work pretty well, Not that I use them very much. It is a very silly idea though.

You should have bought a dozen and sold them later on Ebay after the dust dies down and all shops have no stock.

They've lost the plot. :disapp:

Apart form being the silliest idea I've heard for a while, it is just plain stupid. Just like cars, there are good ones and bad ones, by design. I presume they spent the required millions to research this grand idea. You poor bas****s. :disapp: What happened to Rule Britannia, give these sprouts the heave ho.

Sounds like the same committee that legislated DPFs had another brain-
fartstorming session.
-
Well the perverts aren't going to have much fun in the future, with less suction on their vacuums
-
Yet another reason for the once GB to go it alone.

I recently read a crime/ mystery novel titled "Cold Monday" by Terrence Strong.
It's based around a series of conspiracies behind the EU, aimed at controlling the law enforcement agencies in each member country.
Released in 2003 but there's probably copies of it around in libraries or s/h bookshops.
Worth a read, but maybe not if you are in the UK. :scared:

A run on powerful vacuum cleaners.
Sales rocket 44% as households scramble to buy best models before EU ban.

We bought the Dyson DC25 bagless upright (one of the best sellers and only 1200 watts according to that article)
Trish is very fussy with her Vacuums and is very happy with it so far ... Seems to do a brilliant job with our carpet. (so maybe anything more than 1600 watts is overkill..)
I still don't agree with Brussells being able to dictate to the UK what wattage of Vac they can buy though! :fum:

You and me both, buddy :undecided:
Next up from Brussels, is new legislation regarding lawnmowers and hairdryers too
Fuckin meddlers

Did I hear that David Cameron promised a referendum on the EU if he's re-elected next year?
I'll bet he's hoovered a few votes with that.

He certainly did. If the Tories win then the referendum will be in 2016 after he has renegotiated terms. Some people don't believe he means it, but he does.
The reason that most people don't like Europe is because there are thousands of Polish and others coming here due to the open borders rules.
Though the Europe question is quite low on most people's list of important issues. Cameron would prefer to stay in the EU if possible, but lots of his MPs are agin it - so he felt obliged to offer the referendum or he might have been chucked out as leader ! :)
