Bit expensive, don't you think, Brett? But certainly cheaper than the damage caused by using unleaded in a diesel.

Might be a worthwile purchase for "airhead" drivers who don't look at which fuel bowser they are filling up from.

yeah bit dear, didn't take any notice of the price to start with :-[

like you say though, cheap insurance for you if anybody else was to use/fill the car, or airhead drivers aka. mrs K surprised we haven't copped a bit of diesel in our little rocket!

Good idea but would make it hard for those who like to brim the tank.

What's the go with it being open all the time or is there some sort of cap that's not shown?  :undecided:

Here's a cheaper alternative:

It's a great idea but I can't get past the idea that there's about 5 bucks worth of plastic in it. Don't like getting ripped off, so I do the same thing I do before cutting timber, check twice

How about a sticker on the inside of the fuel flap that says "DIESEL ONLY".  A lot cheaper than the other options.   :D

Who are you calling an Airhead?

I reckon I will get the cheaper one if we get an i40 CRDi

What will they think of next?
Can you program these devices to say what you want them to say?
If so, I might get one for my bedside drawers.
It would be so, so useful in the morning when I'm half asleep to have an urgent-sounding voice shout, "Remeber! Underpants! Remember! Underpants!"
That would be very useful.  :)

I wonder what the voice sounds like..? You would get some strange looks at the Garage

If your flap came out a fair way when you pulled the lever it might say it's bit before you got there to hear it  :whistler:

They look interesting, rustynutz.

I don't think they would fit the i30 due to the fittings inside the fuel flap for holding the filler cap. Probably not enough flat space to mount one.

A good device for "airheads"? Probably, given that airheads are more likely to spend $120 on a gizmo like this...

Seriously, if a driver can't decypher the large "Diesel Only" sticker above the filler and that its opening is considerably larger than that of a petrol filler, then should they be driving at all?

I think that's a bit harsh, mjt.

Seriously, if the outlay of $120 (or less, as seen from rustynutz link) prevents just ONE misfuelling incident in the lifetime of the vehicle, it's money well spent.

As the RACQ say on their site, quote

"If you've recently moved from a petrol vehicle to a diesel, are in and out of different vehicles or have a fleet using a mixture of fuel types, you may be at risk of accidentally filling your diesel vehicle with petrol.

It only takes a moment's lapse in concentration to put the wrong fuel in, but the consequences can be catastrophic and the repair costs staggering."

And that's all I've got to say about that.

I bought the Raa approved device for about $55, in the end I stopped using it because it was a pain to get the pump nozzle in( tight) and I couldn't stop it spilling when you removed the nozzle.  As I am the only one filling up , just replaced it with the original.
Another auto accessory to put in the storage box.

The device could not be too useful for us here, we have both small and large nozzles for diesel filling.

Our gas station did give us "Diesel" sticker to paste it on the inner fuel cap.  :goodjob2:
