When I park up my drive the space on either side of the car is tight.

In the past when the door is opened the door edge can hits against the brickwork of the house or the wooden fence so I was looking at this item to protect the door edge.

This is chrome but I'm after a clear plastic which will go from the window to the door botton, not the little 12 inch ones.

Has anyone has bought the plastic roll in a UK shop rather than online?

      Caloundra, Queensland.
In a previous house, I went the other way and mounted an old piece of garden hose along the wall of the house (garage actually) and it served as a rubbing strip.
It didn't look all that flash so I replaced it with a piece of clear plastic tubing which looked fine.

Did consider this but would lower the tone of the area

Did have something like this when I used to put a car in the garage but over 28 years of odds and sods prevents me from doing that now...

Never bought anything like that in a shop, but you can get the chrome edge strip a little cheaper here (£5.98) :link: (eBay)

Called into halfords this morning and they had both clear and chrome on a roll.

The problem with both was that once you had put it in place down the side of the door, you had to use 2 sided tape to stick it to the body so it didn't move.

Decided to leave for now unless I see a suitable protector when I'm out and about.

^--- the roll I linked to grasps the door edge and shouldn't budge at all

Same as those in the shop but I think the 2 sided tape is to make sure they don't move once in place should you happen to catch the protector as you get in/out of the car.

Dirt will get under it and abrade the paint. Pipe lagging attached to the wall works well and is probably even more impressive to look at   :-)
