If it's had the trans valves replaced and the other work done, it should be ok now.
Some things for you to consider.
- As an ex Govt car, was any service / department history provided. I assume it must be in order, because you've had warranty work performed already.
- Has the car been properly maintained.
- Do you think the price you paid was a bargain, for what you got.
You have had a bad run so far in a short space of time, this is NOT typical of these cars in general and your CV joint failure is the 1st I've heard of in my time here. IMO the broken CV joint was not accidental and I suspect some funny business there. The test for CV joints is not to stress them like that but to turn the wheels on full lock in each direction and observe / listen for a clicking sound. This can be done on a hoist with engine off in quiet conditions. So I feel your car was abused and that's not the car's fault.
As nice as your friends may be, I would take their advice with a grain of salt. You have a mind of your own, use it and base your decision on what you now own and how well it works, not someone else's opinion.
