im about to put platnum in my maxima... they say to be replaced every 100,000 km but ive let it go to 120,000km and its still not missing or anything! but for $24 per plug you would expect them to last aye

Today's news...
I went this morning to a car parts store and the seller check on NGK's 2010 catalog and NGK does NOT recommend iridium spark plug for hyundai i30 and it gives only the standard ZFR 5F 11 .
I asked the seller why so and he said that this happen according the EURO 4-5 regulations so, I just I trusted NGK and I use again a set of the standard ones...

wont hurt to put in iridium or platinum plugs man... just means that you have to change them less, ohh and find a suitable subsitiute

i had platinum spark plugs in my ford raider 4X4 for a while... complete waste of plugs but meh i got them for free (2nd hand good condition) and it used to chew plugs up for nothing

There is no gain in performance at all. if a spark plug is working fine, not 1 hp gain no matter how much you spend. but if it's not working fine then replace with new ones.
but like everyone else i thought most new cars have the longer lasting plugs. my v8 did 170,000k on the first set. really long reach plugs. i think it cost me $200 for a set of 8. :-[

if the plugs are easy to get to... dont bother with platinum/iridium a normal plug costs $3

so
$3.5 x 4 = $14 ($3.5 per plug x 4 plugs)

$14 x 2.5 = $35 (a set every 40,000km over 100,000km)

platinum/iridium

$25 x 4 = $100 ($25 per plug for 100,000km)

works out $65 cheaper...

BUT if you dont plan on doing it yourself then it MAY be cheaper as your not paying labour every 40,000km, if you are then stuff it and buy standard plugs... the savings alone make it worth it...

seriously it cant be hard to do the plugs on an i30 im guessing all you do it pull the engine cover off, unclip the wiring harness undo one bolt per coil pack and BAM use your favourite plug spanner and remove!!!
