Hello, i've a important question, i've got a i30 1.6 CRDi 115hp i've done one ECU reprogram to 140hp, but i really want some more the problem is in portugal nobody have tested the CRDi motors and nobody knows how much HP they can support, there's anyone here that knows how many HP can i get only with reprogramation of ECU? without changing any fisic components like turbo, ic, etc...

Thanks for the help!

155HP is absolute maximum because of 1.6 turbine!  :goodjob:
Even that is quite high.
Anything above that number you risk serious damage to turbine or really shortening its life span.

How come 140hp is not enough?
Then atleast 170hp would make diff and that you can easily forget with original turbine.

I had my last car re-mapped to 194 Bhp with 260 ft lbs of torque, tested on a rolling road.

The car (a 1.9 MJet diesel Grande Punto) was running 144Bhp as standard, the engine is an old 8 valve design & handled everything just fine, but my re-mapper was a Fiat specialist. Any more than I had opted for risked the turbo, common rail etc as well as putting stresses into the clutch & drive train well beyond it's design allowances so do take care when searching for that extra ziiing!

Agree with Ffoxy,
usually cars with starting hp of ~140 have maximum at ~195 (again its the turbine).
Many Kia Pro Ceed dudes, if you google it. have chipped their 2.0 crdi to 196HP as it is the turbine maximum.
Ang again, like i said, i heard many times 155 is top for 1.6 turbine.

I know that there was some chat about remapping  etc  and found this on eBay some time back when researching OBD readers.

This is software to allow such tinkering,... there is some application to some Hyundai models, but not the i30.

If anyone was game they could ask the supplier and  see what they said.....   To risky for me though!!!  :undecided:

horse power is like a drug, the more you get, the more you want.  I've built engines [petrol] that had 350+hp and it still wasn't enough.  :faint: :sweating:  my i30 was meant to be my going strait when it came to modifying cars, but it didn't last.  :goodjob:  sorry about the off topic, but its 100% true. IMO.

tbh 170/180hp its enough for me :) i'm trying to join some drag competitions and the most part of the cars has 150/200 hp

Stock components in the drive-train may be fine for 190BHP with road use but IMO for what its worth I'd definitely look for upgrades to intercooler, clutch, gearbag & driveshafts for Drag racing  :scared:

On a drag strip you dont necessarily have to consider brakes & suspension, a parachute from the boot would be fine (joking, even 190 BHP isnt enough to worry about drag strip run off)

But on the road I'd also seek to add brake pads & disc combinations as a minimum for safety sake.
