ARGH. I just went driving around for half hour, the noise kind of comes-up, but doesn't stick around like it had before. As though its a slight murmer, and goes away.

My dad is working in Sydney tomorrow (I'm from the Highlands), so I will get him to take it - that will give it a good work out. This way I will know if it is my ears playing tricks !!

I will be on the phone to the dealer Monday morning !!

On the receipt it says Belt "V" and another one, Belt 885. I think they said on the phone something to do with the drive belt and AC.

Open the bonnet and you should be able to see them, I think on the left side.

See if they look new to you.

Re warranty.

What does it say in the service book re warranty period.
My service book says 24 months for the V Belt.

They do look new, I had a look last night. And the part numbers on the belts, correspond to the invoice. So I gather they must have been changed.

In my book it says 96 months or 120,000km (for Drive Belts; alternator, water pump, power steering & AC), as replaced. It has 'inspect' for all the prior services.

So the car is a 2009 model, so it hasn't been the 96 months and I only have 63,000km.

Under the 'General Exemptions' of the warranty it does say "the replacemebt of consumable components normally replaced or repaired in the process of routine maintenance servicing, which include but are not limited to: blah blah blah, and drive belts is there".

So my interpretation is that because neither 96 months or 120,000km have occurred yet, I should not have been charged ? or am i completely wrong ?

Although on the following page it does say should be replaced at 60,000km or 48 months if D,E,F, I.  That is driving in cold conditions, driving in sandy areas, using vehicle as a patrol car, more than 50% driving in heavy city traffic during hot weather.

The cold conditions are possible, it does get cold in Bowral. Not normally below zero, but cold. Hate the beach, so sand is out of the question, nor is the car a patrol car. The car may have been driven in heavy city traffic during summer by the previous owner...

** Confused **

Sounds like it may be legit then  :undecided: Being the 2nd owner and being that it is 3 years old you probably just have to accept it.

Yeah. We did a couple on a 45,000 klm diesel i30 a year or so back. Posted pics on here 'coz they were genuinely badly cracked. Done a spart of the 45,000 service and can't remember the price but way less than that.
Not genuine though (from Repco)
