Hi all!

Having a few issues with a 15 (GD?) 1.4 Petrol.

The bite point is on the floor for the clutch, very hard to select gears.

No visible leaks from slave, master looks ok.

Tiny bit of play in master rod to pedal. Do the forks at the end of the slave bend?

Been doing quite a bit of research and somewhere it said the splines on the pressure plate bend.

So im thinking it must be a bent fork or failed pressure plate? Cant see any leaks and the petrols dont have a clutch dampner

Have you been able to do the clutch plates test to establish whether the clutch itself may require renewing.

i.e.
Put handbrake fully on.
Start engine.
Put gear lever into 2nd.
Let clutch pedal up slowly to bite point but do not release handbrake.
If clutch plates ok car should be trying to move forward and bonnet raising up.
If not then revs will rise with no intention of trying to move forward.

Yes, acts as normal. Tries to pull away. Also to add, there isnt any clutch slip when driving.

Im going to try taking up the slack in the master cylinder rod first i think.

I recall way back in 2010 when we were all pretty new to Hyundai.  There was much discussion about the clutch bite point, being too low.  As we all got used to our new cars things seemed to settle down.  I know this isn't much use for you.

Thank you, but its too low to the point it will barely let you engage a gear, its milimetres off the floor bite wise.

The slave cylinder was also leaking, though it wasn't obvious unless you pulled back the rubber boot.

Little update

No leak on slave, fluid bled through fine

Master rod wasnt the cause.

So it must be either the friction plate, pressure plate or the fork

has it got one of the really reliable hyundai clutch pressure regulators? worn pushrod at the master end?

That was all ok

I replaced the friction plate, pressure plate and bearing. That solved the issue. I believe the fins in the centre of the pressure plate had bent slightly.
