How do I tighten my handbrake on my 2008 i30? I bought the car recently second-hand and itt feels very loose (won't stop the car rolling once we are on a moderate hill).

Yeah I saw that was an old link.

Either way the solution is to remove the mat in the centre armrest

Ok, I pulled out the carpet and I found the handbrake adjuster thing, but I don't know how to tighten it!

Do I need to unclip both of the cables that run to the brakes, slide the little device forward, then tighten the locking nut? This seemed to be the way to go, but I hardly have enough room to get my hands in there to remove two cables and I don't want to risk not getting them back on!
