I’m not finding answers to my issues via search so here is my question.  I bit the bullet and replaced the steering column on my ‘09 Elantra Touring (USA model) after multiple losses of assist.  It wasn’t that bad of a job, harder to decide to spend $1100 for the new unit. 

Now I have assist even with the key off and removed.  Is this normal for the new and improved assembly?  Also the column only locks at about 45 degrees right.

Hi, I believe the power assist turns off after a set amount of time , after the key is removed. If it remains on after a long period of time I would start to invesigate possible causes.
