Lack of rear windscreen washers.
There must have been too much distracting reflections for him to have noticed that there are rear window washers :)

In the interest of balance in perspective, I have also noticed at night that the radio screen reflects off the windscreen. I'd much rather a different angle in the console's design to eliminate this appearing just below the rear view mirror. Thankfully much of that light can be switched off - but not all of it.

And I have a dash mat, so no external light reflections noticed.

I have also noticed at night that the radio screen reflects off the windscreen.

We worked out for another member many moons ago (short female) that this can be helped by adjusting your seating position. Taller drivers don't seem to notice this as much and although of only average height my driving position doesn't give me this reflection in an FD i30.

There's a trick to solving the reflection problem which has helped me all my life......... Instead of looking AT the windscreen you look THROUGH it ( focus on the road ahead). It's amazing what you see (cars, trucks, pedestrians etc).

OK smart-arse - I'm well aware you can look through the reflection but at least you acknowledge there is a reflection problem.

Hehe - yes some of them are (actually probably most).  You will get used to it - remember to return fire every so often  :whistler:

With all the replies here you would have thought I was imagining things (but then you have looked at the photo right?).

I did though it is pretty small - so I couldn't tell if my advice in message :link: Reflection from dashboard would actually be of use.   Though looking at the windscreen near the pillar I think it might be - I am assuming the outside of the windscreen was clean... being there is no wiper marks (showing clean v dirty - from inbuilt window washers + blades).   The fogging has been mentioned and/or observed by some members, inc. myself, and you don't necessarily realise it at first until you disturb it.

BTW You can use imgur, photobucket, etc. to post bigger pictures if you wish.

Ahh... good point.  I am a tallish bugger, even with the seat right down and back (assuming I am sitting upright) I don't have huge head/ceiling clearance.  So my angle to windscreen would be shallower than others - which, of course, influences reflection.   I never saw the point of the head-unit backlight off feature and/or button (depending on model) - now I get it.

It must have washers if it has a rear window wiper. The control is on the same stalk.

My rear washers stopped working once and water was dripping out of the rear hatch. The plastic pipe had come adrift - warranty repair.

Other than the obvious icon pictured on the stick

You'll also see the water outlet in the base of the rear wing brake light

The obvious way to cure reflections is to cover your dash with aluminium foil - the shiny side up.

The whole screen will then be covered by an even shiny reflection which will not be as noticeable as when there are odd reflections in different parts of the screen.  :whistler:

I think your being a bit previous there !!!
I am sure that you can now buy non-reflective paints.  This could personalize the car with an attractive finish, maybe some nice polka-dot paint sprayed over the offending area would add value to an otherwise bog standard,  not to mention boring, factory finish.   :goodjob: :goodjob: :goodjob:

Great idea! I have a can of striped paint going cheap for whoever is interested, along with a left-handed screwdriver for those who may need it to help open it. :D
