At that price I might be tempted to travel over and wait unless I use it to negotiate a reasonable price at my dealers.
Anyway, 3 year not due until September.

Just noticed - Is the oil C3?

I googled that oil and it's fully synthetic so is fine. I did ask about the oil when I took her in

She's awesome. Bit of a girly smell inside after the valet, but that'll soon disappear :D

Hi Steve,

Overall price seems ok but oil seems dear at over A$80 and filter is twice what we pay (after conversion)?

I think the £21 filer is the fuel filter. The oil filter is £8.72.

I think overall its a good price.

^-- yes it is, thanks; when queried, they said their Nissan computer system doesn't print/display the actual details of the parts, and it is a fuel filter with accompanying fitment

Bit of a girly smell inside after the valet,

Just so I can get the image in my mind, any chance you can describe the smell?

Hi Shambles, don't you guys have a DPF? In which case you should use a low SAPS oil that ACEA calls C3.

I looked at the specs for your oil and it does not say C3. It does however say LL-98 which is BMW speak for a "long life" oil. BMW LL specs have long since been upgraded (3 times) to LL-04 which now includes the low SAPS requirement for their DPF equipped diesels.

If your oil said LL-04 or C3 I'd say it's correct (assuming it has a DPF) but it doesn't.

Also, in your climate I'd probably use a 30 weight oil. 40 is fine but probably increases fuel consumption without any other benefit. Viscosity discussions cause lots of arguments :) and whether you use 30 or 40 is probably of little consequence but I think the C3 specification ought be adhered to... particularly if it's the requirement by the handbook.

My 2c.

I guess they don't class the oil as "parts", otherwise the figures do add up.

Has 3 year service but can't post invoice as scanner not scanning correctly so here is a breakdown:

Gasket-oil plug          £1.60
Service kit -Oil filter   £15.20
Filter cartridge          £21.13
Oil  5w/30 (C3)        £61.50

Labour                    £45.25
VAT                       £25.32
                            ----------
Total                      £170.00
                            ----------

Environmental Charge FOC
Health Check             FOC
Screen Wash              FOC

The only item which is the same is the Filter cartridge for the diesel filter.

Service kit????? Shambles £8.72 mine £15.20.
I presume same so why such a variance?

Oil £18 difference  Probable due to brand used but I see Shambles is 5w/40.  No brand given for mine but last time it was Hy branded.

I'm not so much bothered about the breakdown just the bottom line figure.

Check out my 50,000 mile service thread. They clicked the wrong button on the invoice so I got my oil much cheaper, even though they used 5w30.

Dunno why the other items were different in price

I do believe Texaco Havoline Utra is not  C3
only Havoline Ultra S  is C3 rated,
and the UK Diesel does have a DPF.
Unless yours is different to mine?

The 1.6 CRDi (uk) models had a CPF until production dates round August 2009 then it changed to a DPF. I believe both require ACEA-C3 oil.

I don't pretend to understand but I believe Oz cars have CPF and no DPF and are not spec'd for C3; B4 only.

Just had quote for 3rd year service on my 1.6crdi premium £245 !!!! when I asked why the price was so high he said they now have to change the antifreez. Just something else to squeez the customer with, at least it's not due till June so gives me time to save some more hard earned pounds. Will also ring other dealers.

£245 sounds way over the top, when compared with mine and eye30's service posts

When I take my cars in for servicing I always say "the service exactly as stated in the supplied service schedule". Now, if they later presented me with a £70 surcharge for swapping out the antifreeze, I wouldn't pay it. That's the kind of guy I am. Pedantic.
