  • 2019 PD2 Go Petrol, Manual. 30,000 kms.
I tried to book my '09 diesel manual in for a mobile service, as I have on all the others, but was told it has to go into the workshop for the 90,000 as it's a major.
I asked why, and she said, "Because the petrol i30 has a timing belt change at that service."
I said, "Good, but mine's a diesel."
She said, "I think diesels do too." That inspired confidence.  :undecided:
And they've quoted $620 which is about $300-400 more than previous services.
Has anyone else had this one done and if so, may I ask how much it was and what they did?
Thanks.

Hi Dave.. you've been quiet  :winker:

I thought you used Hughes and they were normally pretty good?

Might be time to use an independent and shop around for some cheaper Kia equivilent parts  :goodjob:

You might need to ask for and talk to the Service Manager by the sound of it.. Once you collate the results of this thread of course)

Gee Dazz, you're quick!
I have been a bit quiet I know, and very (way too) busy.
Yes, this is with J.H. Servicing Dept
Thought about an independent, but it's just that it has all the Hyundai stamps etc which I thought maybe might help when selling it, plus I've been very happy with the mobile servicing - get the same mechanic every time as he lives up this way.
Thanks

Hi Dave, my 08 diesel is approaching 90 000 km and will need
to be done in about a month's time. I found the following site that seems to
have useful info about what is done and what the approximate cost might be.
Seems to be around $500 on average and no mention of a timing belt change.

Hey, that's a handy site, thanks.
I know Midland Auto Plus in Midvale - they are good, honest guys who have been there for a long time - and one of the cheapest by the look of it.
Plus, if I take my own oil, I'll at least know they are using it.
Mm. A bit confused now.....

I just checked that site for the diesel and petrol.
Diesel $504.
Petrol $810 - incl replace cambelt.
So I guess I need to confirm this with JH

I guess if they will match that diesel figure and do it at your place they get the deal !

Yeah, kind of makes up for the more expensive diesel filter.. the 1.6 CRDi motor has always had a chain rather than a belt  :goodjob:

easy to tell if you have a timming chain as a belt can NOT survive in an oil filled sealed enviroment for long. my CRDi is sealed so must have a chain. Belts normaly have a plastic cover over them,

Just a quick update on the 90,000 km diesel service.
I ended up going with Auto Plus who did a "by the book" service for around $200 less than the Hyundai dealer, with all genuine parts.
The price on the website was $504 but they ended up charging $379 (I supplied the oil). JH Hyundai quoted me $620.
They said they replaced things (such as fuel filter) which really didn't need it ,but to keep the NCW valid had to be done.
Very happy with the service there and will keep going to them I think at this point.
It's driving better than new.
Thanks to all for your advice.

I just posted in another thread but I'll repost here.

Got my car serviced at Werrribee Huyndai today.  $725 for the service.  Wipers need replacing ($20, didn't get it done), 4 new tyres (I'll get these myself) and if I heard correctly, $175 for a pollen filter, which I said yes to.  I found, what I assume to be the same filter, on eBay for $75 ($8 P&H).

My baby had better purr like a kitten after this service.

Not a bad little mark up if you heard correctly.... :scared:
I also found that one on ebay recently and "saved it", just in case my local dealer tries to charge me some ridiculous amount like yours..... :goodjob:

It's a while since you fluttered over here!  :)

I gave up on them after the 1000Km service. Even if it was free, their response to a few questions I had put me off... plus they are a fair drive for me... seems I made the right assessment.

Pity, the sales guys were terrific.

Yes, welcome back to me!

Yup I did hear correctly re the pollen filter.  It's been a while since I had it serviced at a Huyndai dealer, but seeing as it was a major one, though I'd better take it there.

They ended up putting new wipers on, which I said no to, so they deducted the $20.  I was going to query the filter, but wasn't bothered.

Actually, the filter listed on my invoice is $69.  (Filter on eBay http://tinyurl.com/64cth2b).  There's also a filter cartridge for $130, but don't know what for.

Service breakdown is:

Labour $256
Parts $384
POL $164 (what's POL?)
Misc $13
Tax $81
