Just curious, when the GD i30 was introduced in OZ last year the "Active" came with a space saver "spare" but at the time I was told that that was only a temporary measure and a full size spare would again be standard fitment around September/October last year.
Is this now the case or were they talking porkies and are still fitting the space saver?

Dave, you got your Active before Xmas, has it got a full size spare?

Anyone else?  :undecided:

Thanks..... :goodjob:

I'll have to take a look tomorrow but as far as I know the website still states the GD comes with a space saver.

Thanks Panda...

Yes, the Hyundai site does say that but it wouldn't be the first time they lied about the specs... :D

Space saver or full size I'm not that bothered as:

I would only use it in an emergency.  Get the puncture fixed within a few days and return to use.
If full size it would be on a steel rim.  I have alloys so would need to get it changed.
If and when I buy new tyres, I may change brand or tread pattern then the spare will not be used.

Just glad I have a spare and not a can of gunge

Thanks for your comments, Lester but I'm more interested in whether we still have them in the OZ "Active"rather than whether they are a good or bad thing etc etc....  :whistler:

Mine's an Oct 2012 South Korea build Active and it has a space saver spare with a maximum speed of 50 mph written on the side of it.
Interesting, as we use km/h.

Thanks Dave..... :goodjob:

So it looks like someone was spinning a yarn then.... :undecided:
The story I got at the release of the GD in June? was that Hyundai had a shortage of full size wheels so they fitted the space saver as a temporary measure...

How many go slightly or even very off par.
I'm giving a comment that I'm not too bothered if they have one or the other.

Just went and looked. I have a space saver. It says No more than 690kgs and no faster than 50mph/80kmph so I got the best of both worlds with the speed limit  :snigger:

Nope, I guess I'm not disappointed because I expected it to be a space saver. Annoying though when people say they'll do something and don't.

i don't think the space saver spare is an issue IMO.   you get a flat, put on the spare, then go and have the puncture repaired and re fit the repaired wheel.  :winker:  that's what the spare wheel is there for,not to be left in the boot and be forgoten about till the next time you get a flat.  :faint:
