Title: [video] window relay module
Post by: cewi on May 04, 2013, 16:30:56
Hello,

I finally installed the window relay module by dowontec. I bought at sharkracing.
Most of you know this module. There are a lot of improvements, like:
- close and/or open all windows by remote control
- auto-down function for all windows
- auto-up function for all windows
- safety windows

This time i tried to record the installation. Have a look

That was very good and the demo at the end was impressive...   I wouldn't feel confident to tackle it on mine tho, but when I was younger I would have using your excellent instructional video  :goodjob: :goodjob:

That was a great video, well done.

If I may I'd like to make a couple of suggestions.

- Where the wires are spliced, soldering would have been a good idea. Twisting them that way can set up a high resistance connection which can get hot.

- I always splice my wires in a staggered formation, that way, it is impossible for spliced wires to touch each other.

- The red wire through the door should be bound by tape to the existing wiring, there is more strength in binding to the loom than having 1 single wire flopping freely.

A great job though.  :goodjob2:

There was a demo? The video ended abruptly while looking at the wiring when I viewed it...  :undecided:

*edit: the video has now suddenly grown....

Did you have any trouble with shark racing? I have emailed them twice asking if they post to Australia but haven't replied :(

O yes, I had...
I emailed them at least ten times. They answered two weeks later...
I used following addresses: orders@sharkracing.com || sharkracing.orders@gmail.com || sharkracer@sharkracing.com
I've emailed the day for day.

I ordered 2013-03-23 and the item was shipped 2013-04-11.

Quote from their website:
"Due to some computer problems, we are not able to access some previous emails. If you have sent us an email without any replies within the past few days, please resend the email."

Hi me again sorry, I finally got a reply from shark racing said they do ship to Australia  :happydance: I asked if this would work on RHD i30's and my reply was " kit probably will not work on the RHD cars"  :scared: I have no idea what probably means, and I can't understand why it would be different.

Does anyone have any thoughts? If the plugs don't fit then I'm sure I could just cut them off and hard wire them. I found another thread about someone installing this module and he was from Australia but he seems to be inactive for awhile now so I can't ask him how it went. www.i30ownersclub.com/forum/index.php?topic=4182.0 (https://www.i30ownersclub.com/forum/index.php?topic=4182.0)

Nor me. As you say, if push comes to shove, you could just snip snip snip. Electrics don't care a toss if they're pointing forwards or backwards. Maybe shark racing were just covering themselves, or maybe you got your reply from the office donkey.

I bought a similar unit from Aliexpress in China.

I installed the control unit today.

When I am sat in the car and press the window buttons the back windows will now work auto up and down as they should.

The front windows will not work auto up and the drivers window will work auto down as it did before.

The passenger window will not auto down.

When I lock the car all windows will go up, when I unlock the car only the back windows will go down, please see video clip here >>

Any ideas what could be wrong please?
