Had the battery off for a few hours today whilst fitting my DRL's. When I reconnected it I noticed my economy figures had re-set, & the clock had re-set. Understandable I guess & at least my radio held it's tuning, but the ESP light was on proclaiming "ESP off"! No response to the ESP switch.
It stayed like that even after a bit of a drive but all service was restored with a quick switch off of the ignition & back on while I was driving down a hill.  :sweating:

you must have reset the memory on the ESP when you switched the ignition off/on.

Possibly imagining it, but could the ECU have re-set? If so, that might explain why it feels crisper to drive....?

Always seems to happen when the battery is disconnected. Needs the full start/restart treatment.

You'd think of all the gadgets we have onboard, that the ESP would know when to come back on

The ESP comes on because after battery disconnect because it's info has been dumped. When the car is restarted it has to acquire new info from it's sensors and won't reset on until all info has been replaced. Presumably, that doesn't occur until the next ign off cycle.

It happened to me when making him led to the installation of the pilot and co-pilot's feet, ran out of battery. When booting getting second, took a while to remove the ESP OFF.

Sorry, if there is a word missing or not consistent.

I have this exact same problem with my car. ESP OFF light comes on, and doesn't go off until you turn the car off then back on. This is happening a few times a week and getting worse. I took it to the dealer under warranty and they replaced a brake light switch but this didn't fix the problem so I will be taking it back.

Hi All,  I've had  ESP off light come on, usually on a long left turn. The dealer "updated the software" and the light hasn't turned on while driving since. Also the rear left tyre was 2psi lower than all the other tyres, which has been corected.
