I've got a 2012 model manual with 70,000km on the clock and I've just noticed it making a knocking noise in the front end when accelerating or backing off, mainly while putting around carparks etc in first gear. Any thoughts or anyone having the same problem?

Hi Grinch, from another Sunny Coaster.

That's a high mileage for a 2012 vehicle. Have you had it since new?
Sounds like an engine / gearbox mount at first thought.
But it's under warranty anyway.

I suggest you trot off to your local Hyundai dealer and get them to have a look. Let's know how you go.

And welcome to the forum.

Sounds similar to the noise discussed in this thread

Yeppers I'd go for the Drop links too before giving it a Main Dealer to steal fro.... I mean to charge you...

Why would there be a charge if the car is only a couple of years old?

It would depend on if they class it as wear and tear or a warranty issue, I guess.

If its warranty all good, if not.......

I don't think there have been many with this issue, so it may well be warranty.

I understand but gee, "wear and tear"? Surely whether it be drop links or engine mount or something else, you should be able to expect more than 70,000 klms out of a car's componentry.

I totally agree Trev. I would be standing my ground if they tried to charge!

thanks, yeah we've had it since new, unfortunately the mrs does over 100km a day to work, yeah I was thinking its probably a mount. how bad are the dealers with warranty when the car hasn't been serviced by a dealership, it has always been done by an a grade mechanic?

Shouldn't be a problem. Are you on the coast or in the hinterland.
I use Sunco at Currimundi but have been getting serviced elsewhere until the 60K one.

Drop links really suffer where roads may be rough or potholed, even worse if a car is generally parked half on and half off a kerb.

I was just saying, I hope there isn't any charge... Just suggesting an option.

Take it in by all means...

Hi grinch

 :wttc:

Drop links are not Wear and tear parts, so should be warranty.

Being serviced by another part isn't a problem, as long as the Hyundai service schedule is followed and correct parts used.

And you can prove that.  :goodjob2:

However, if it happens to be Drop Links that are not included in any service schedule so unaffected. There are plenty possible causes for on/off throttle rattles including but not exclusively top suspension mounts, a broken road spring, suspension bushes....

I'm up in Pomona right up the top end of the coast. We brought the car off sunco Maroochydore, but I was put off by there service dept after the Mrs took it in for its first service and the said it had to have the intermittent services done because highway driving was severe service

Interesting.
The service people at Currimundi are great. Easy to deal with, nothing is too much trouble.
Only issue I've had was with my daughter's Accent which has the fixed price service schedule and they had trouble working out how to bill it for the first one at 15k.
However, Darwin is worse, where my daughter is now. Nearly a year later and up there they still have trouble billing out the fixed price services.
Isn't there a Hyundai dealer at Noosaville?  And Nambour?
BTW, that's crap about the highway driving. The opposite applies. All metro, stop start is the sort of thing which would benefit from the intermediate services.
IMHO. :p

Absolute rubbish, that's what Diesel's love, unless you're driving through bulldust or pot holed roads. Good to stay away from that dealer.
