Title: 08 2.0lt Turbo Diesel Coolant Leak.
Post by: JOCKs on December 29, 2015, 04:30:10
So I'm just trying to get some information, long story short this is a friends car. Their is a leak at the rear of the engine. Between firewall and engine block.  From what i can tell, their is a brass T piece coming off the head or block which goes to the firewall and expansion tank (rubber hoses).  At the base of the tee off which connects to the expansion tank their is a hairline crack which has expanded over time.

My theory is either the hose has gone hard over time and the engine torquing over time has cause it to fracture. But that's besides the point. I'm trying to figure out how far i have to rip into the engine to replace the part but cant seem to find any diagrams or service manual online. Would anyone be able to help me out ?

Oh yeah, right.

The pic in the workshop manual is not very helpful. It doesn't show the expansion tank, but here it is for what it's worth.

Well i could be wrong, it could be a 1.6 crd, i was googling and she said that sounded familiar. I have never owned a Hyundai before, still skeptical about the Koreans. But that just the old dog in me. As far as i know its an "08' i30 turbo diesel" with a coolant leak  :happydance:

Just for reference can someone please post up the 1.6 one too. Thanks

Where is the car, what country?
That might give us a clue as to what engine it has.
It's an FD model, we know that.
Not many 2.0 litres around as far as I'm aware, mostly 1.6 in most markets.

1.6 is shown differently, so not easy to do.

This is the best I can find.

You can pretty easy determin if it's a 1,6 or 2,0

The 2,0 have a timing belt, the 1,6 is with chain.

Thanks guys. Really appreciate it, the car is in Melbourne, AU. I don't have the car here but from what i can remember its a DOHC engine. If that makes any kind of difference. I pulled off the engine cover and spotted the leak and that's as far as i went.

It's definitely a 1.6 diesel. We never got the 2.0 diesel.

The FD i30 in Australia got:
1.6 Gamma (petrol)
2.0 Beta (petrol)
1.6 U / U2 (diesel)

Good and bad news, Well i did find the right part but its all in russian. So their seems to be a few different parts or revisions using the same part number "25620P" which is i believe is for the whole assembly. "25621W" is the pipe alone. Even googling that will give you a few different results. I'm guessing they moved either the expansion tank or heater core in different models.

Not even sure if this will help anyone, but if your looking for the pipe in the picture below. I'm pretty sure the part number is "256212A600".
