I won't go overboard. 
And for those with memory issues, Terry & I had quite a heated mass debate over politics and the non-existent virtues of Julia Gillard but we decided to resolve our political differences in the well-established and long-standing Australian way of being mates and having a beer. 

It will happen. Trust me, I worked for the government.

I heard her being interviewed on radio this afternoon and she said that is not what she said and she doesn't think Australians are bullies.

I might be a bit thick Alan, but if she says    makes us look more like a nation of furious bullies how is that "badly" misquoted?
I could maybe accept "Quoted out of context" but surely if she used the term, she should stand by what she said.

My take is that she is not saying that Aussies are furious bullies - but that "The combination of FM radio shock jocks and the endless abuse that passes for parliamentary debate these days makes us look like we are"

In other words she is saying that the behaviour of radio shock jocks and the abuse in parliament that gets reported is giving people quite the wrong impression.

Or have I got it wrong....??  I sometimes do...........

Some people just become lifes victims & they are almost marked as such from a very early age sadly. And there is no shortage of folks who will take full advantage of that.

I believe the poor nurse who took her own life might have been a little ill before the joke.  The joke tipped her over the edge.  All may be revealed at the Coronial Inquiry.  But then it is the Royal's hospital we are talking about, any part the hospital played in her demise (if any) might be hushed up.

I hope we are not suggesting that this - if true - makes the prank more acceptable and lets the prangster radio station off the hook.
(I should explain that I do not hold the guys who made the phone call totally responsible - they had clearance from management and their legal advisors - that's where it went wrong)

Definitely not the case, Alan. The reason for my latest post was to shed more light on this terrible tragedy, not an attempt to exonerate those responsible for the prank.
