For me the styling of the back has grown on me. The grille is so similar to the Civic it's not funny and that is starting to date a bit..anyway I'll let the pix do the talking.

Cheers,

Dazz

If you haven't seen this you-tube video on the i30 styling then it's worth a look.

Check this one out....it seems to be a little bit of i30 history .....about the design of the i30 concept car ...called the Arnejs ( pronounced ar-nez ) . It was unveiled at the Paris Motor Show in September 2006.

I would have to agree about the front of the i30 being a bit on the plain side. It's the only part of the i30 styling i'm not that keen on. It just doesn't look mean enough, and they could have done a lot better. The front of the Mazda 3 and Impreza look good, they got it right. the BMW looks a bit soft for my liking.

Tim.

Hi Eyma,

Just mucking around... actually think the slight squaring up of the lower grill improves the look a bit.

Found a car with those intakes in a similar colour to mine so cloned them on to see how it would look..

Can buy the stripes over the net (look better than this - one wide/one narrow) but you'd have to be game!

dazz

Interesting... I parked behind a 1994 Honda Civic hatch (i know the model because I had a silver one back when they were new) in the flesh I was surprised how similar the overall shape and size etc.. was

Not the best pic (and ordinary colour) but you get the idea...

Hey Eyma,

I mentioned to Hyundai how we and a couple of the other guys weren't really convinced about the rear tail light cluster. They decided to throw some $$$ at their little known Tasmanian Design Studios and here is the result (hope you like it - might be in showrooms early next year  :D )

Is that real or photoshop?
I think it's ok, but I like the original design, because it's different.

The rear now looks like the Kia Cee'd on sale in UK.

They must have used my (i mean the) little known Tasmanian design studio too.. :D

But seriously as Hemmi says the rear light cluster does grow on you and it is one of the few points of difference between our car and many others.... Think the concave tailgate (as per BMW 1 series) looks better than the Kia. IMO

The kia Cee'd cluster just looks "normal" to me.

Same style rear end as many other models on the UK roads.

No individuality which is what you want in your car.

Hi Mullet,

The way I see it the car would have been mainly developed by Hyundai. After all it is essentially a tweaked Elantra.

Because they sunk big $$$ into its development they must have thought also giving the platform to Kia would help to spread the development costs.

From what I've read the Kia is slightly more down market in its trim and specs but get a 7 year warrantly (with some exclusions in the fine print)

Ganassa (an Italian i30 owner) said the Kia is selling 10 to one with the i30 over there due to the warranty difference - only 3 years for the i30 in Italy?)

Our European members may be able to give more info.

In UK i30 has 5 year warranty, Kia are giving 7 years.

BUT when I looked at the Kia warranty conditions there are a number of exclusions and restrictions for years 6 and 7 which in my opinion makes the latter 2 years just advertising hype.
