For xmas I got a nice surprise and was presented with a kit car.

I'll be spending most of my free time building it and sourcing some of the main components.

Looking forward to sharing the experience of building the kit car and asking for help on some of the more technical aspects.

Spent most of the last few days making enough space in my garage to have room to build it  and  reading the instruction sheets.

If the weather permits, as cold in garage at moment, I'll make a start tomorrow.

Good on ya Lester.  There have been many many kit car series on the TV which I am confident that you will find in youtube.  I shall be most interested in the progress.  would love to have a go myself except that bone in my back don't bend to well these days.

Made a good start this morning.

Up early so out to the garage to check all the parts and make sure no damage.

As temp below zero I've a small 2 bar electric heater set up and a mug of extra strong tea, bit early for the beer........

Removed parts from the packaging and checked they were all ok.

I've now placed them around the garage in near enough order of build.

Checked what extra items I may need and sorted them out.

Now my next step is to start building and hope that the individual parts match up.

Off for lunch so I'll get going later.

Just a quick update while I have my afternoon cuppa and jammy dodger.

Going well as the first 2 parts have fitted to a T.

Must crack on while I'm in the mood as I'm out in the cold garage.

Sounds exciting. Surely not a full size one!

Yes not full size like my i30.

Hopefully big enough to get a thrill when it is finished.

When he said kit car i assumed he'd be able to talk to it.  Doesn't seem likely if only a billy cart!  :crazy1:

Early start and cracking on with the build.

Had a little help yesterday so got most of the chassis together.

This morning concentrating on the cabin and getting the doors, windows and roof sorted.

Motor giving me a little of jip as the spacing for the wheels is a little bit tight but got a work around.

Project going well now I can understand and follow the instructions.

Ps
Not Lego

I 3D printed a part for a friend's kit car, a 1964 HK Holden.
He had been missing the left tail light for many years until I came along! :victory:

Over to him now to add the tiny silver lines.

Got stuck in and finished the build.

First pictures of the new motor are unveiled on here.

Very eco friendly and runs smoothly and silient.

Has brill acceleration but short lived.  Only down side is distance travelled is very short.

Going out later for a short drive and to show off my new wheels to the neighbours.

Suppose to keeping up with tradition when members have a car other than an i30, I can now post some pics in Members other motors thread.

Few pictures of the body press and finished project.
