Title: Detailing my i30?
Post by: Leyton on August 04, 2017, 17:13:34
So I mainly joined this forum to get some ideas on how I can make my i30 mine (without voiding that handy 5 year warranty).

I would love some suggestions on maybe some sort of paint/colour detailing I can do on my car body, wheels, or whatever else anyone can think of to make my black i30 stand out from the crowd. I don't mind spending a bit of money, I will make it something of a project of mine.

Thanks! :D

Some custom rims would probably be the most effective change in individual styling.

Some nice led tail lights http://m.ebay.com.au/itm/322010896388? (http://m.ebay.com.au/itm/322010896388?_trkparms=aid=777003&algo=DISCL.MBE&ao=1&asc=20140117125611&meid=63b110632c4c48658bb7ffbb31535597&pid=100009&rk=1&rkt=10&sd=322578151604&_trksid=p2047675.c100009.m1982&_mwBanner=1)
Those lights now appear to be advertised as tail gate lenses only unfortunately  :( you can find complete led sets on eBay and Shark Racing website.

Hi Leyton, can you post a few pictures of your can in this thread to get us motivated with ideas. Craig's suggestions are certainly a good start.

Agree with Craig,  a nice set will do wonders for the look.
No doubt tyre joints will say go with huge rims and very low profile tyres -  $$$$$$$ !.
Take your time to sort out what you like the look of , then see what sizes are available.
Your young,  just remember that insurance companies will use any excuse to deny a claim .
Enjoy,  keep us posted.

I'll post some more pictures on Tuesday/Wednesday of my car when I get it back from the panel shop (reference to my post in the mishaps section of the forum haha).

Thanks for the suggestions so far!

Ummm, not yet. :-[

But it's next on my list. :victory:

I'm guessing jack up, wheel off, dab on red gloss with a paintbrush while fitted is easiest. :workitout:

That's what I'd do. Getting the wheels on and off would be a P.I.T.A. for me.   :undecided:

Might have to do it at my mate Dorian's place?

My friend isn't keen on painted calipers, but said caliper covers are an option if available for the i30

I'm guessing that the metal ones might be better in the long run? Would it be best to maybe just do the fronts or all 4? Would the covers interfere with them in any way I wonder? E.G. Make them run hotter or impede pad changes in any way?

All four would look better Dazz.

They're not an open top caliper so won't restrict pad changes, just make sure you have an inch clearance between the wheel and caliper.
