thanks Trev, its probably a good idea that i check the manufacturing date on the side walls.they could be a few years old when fitted.a member had his tyres almost fall apart and go Bald very fast and it came down to old stock on a new car .
Yep. I remember that. Mine were made the month before my car so I'm cool. :D

I assume they are made in the new factory in Europe (Poland?) and may have a different compound than for other markets.

I got a full set of Hankook's when I had cracking in the originals.

Original made in Korea
New set have Hungary on the sidewall.

I find the new set a lot better than the originals although I had not problems with the originals other than premature cracking.

  • i30's are being seen everywhere....
I've got Hankooks Optimo's on mine and these are quite noisy, probably the most annoying thing about the car for me!
Will be looking for a better tyre come time to replace them..

Yep. Agreed.
I also will want something better come replacement time, but it's a little way off yet with only 11,000 klms up since Nov 2009.
Being of Scottish blood I can't justify just replacing them, even at the prices I'll pay, given the low mileage I do these days.

Hi.

About manufacturing date, I'm unable to find that on my tyres.

There is a UE Directive, beginning 2012, requiring tyre replacement older than 4 years.

As you can see, in the Hankook web site it's easy to know the manufacturing date.

Well (or not...) on my tyres I can see only “DOT 2XRP EK H”. Nothing more!

Can anyone help about this?

It's only impressed on inside!

Here is outside

"4809". This means Week 48 of Year 2009.

probably anything made in china/second hand japanese...

i bought 2nd hand japanese tyres once (some random dunlop's) WOAH... in the dry you could easily fry 3rd up...

BUT what scared me i could get wheel spin in 4th in the skyline at 100kph on the highway when it was wet, just by flooring it and letting it come on boost! it was insane, but fun at the same time...

i DONT recomend 2nd hand tyres... or the ones i have on the maxima ATM... (some brand called "corsa")

nah... we are pretty "anonomous" here... but still its not good to bag something out!

the only reason i say the dunlops that i used were horrid, is because they were 2nd hand and god knows how many years old they were!

the corsa on teh maxima, have NO wet weather grip... and little dry grip, they are about the same as the 50,000 km old maxxis tyres that were on it! still some one else might use them and find them more than adequate!

You can't really do that because quality varies within brands as well as between them..
