Hi everyone, I'm a long time browser for information and now need your help badly. I was attempting to troubleshoot a problem on my 2010 i30 CW and inadvertently caused another. I seem to have blown the fuse for the illumination for the spedo, tach, switches, and gearshift. OK, so I blew a fuse, not a biggie. But I all the passenger compartment and engine compartment fuses are fine. I then notice that the label on the interior of the engine fuse box shows a bottom row of fuses or relays that is simply not present in my fuse box. These include 'B+1' and 'RR HTD' - the manual lists both as "Instrument panel junction box".

So I think there is a pretty good chance that my problem is with one of these, but where in heck are they? I'm losing my mind trying to figure this out. Please help.

Thanks for the welcome. I've partially solved the problem by figuring out that a bad fuse was showing intermittent continuity (huh?)  and replaced it but now I can get back to my original problem:

1) what circuit controls the brightness of the blue backlit gear and door display on the dash.

--this circuit has been giving me all sorts of problems, first I get occasional flickering from brighter to darker, and then now it has stopped switching from bright to dim when the headlights are turned on. (my i30 does not have the rheostat that controls dimming)

2) why indeed is there a row of fuses relays listed on the inside of the fuse box cover that isn't there?

Thanks again.

I'm sure this flicking has been reported but sometime ago.

From what i can recall the only way to resolve is to replace the whole unit as it was due to the printed board which can not be repaired/replaced.

Thanks so much! I guess that will be a problem for the dealer to sort out.

Sounds like you need a cluster. The other guys are on the right track.
As for the row of fuses, without having it in front of me I can't think of exactly what your referring to.
The closest thing I can think of is the multi-fuse in the engine fuse box. From above it is a long black strip and it has clear sides which you can see the fuse elements through. There will be 6-8 fuses maybe and is a one piece fuse. Whether this is what your referring to on not I don't know.
Being a 2010 you should still have warranty remaining? Best thing to do is get it to dealer.
