Took my car in for it's 60,000k service this afternoon.

Quite happy with the $227.95 cost. I supplied the oil and the oil, fuel and pollen filters.

As far as I know they also replaced the brake switch as part of Hyundai's recall and they also looked into the annoying
squeak that has been emanating from the drivers seat this last month or so.
So far it appears the squeak has gone so very happy with that as it was really giving me the sh*ts.

Arrived home in the dark and noticed I only had one headlight working....grrr.
Not sure if it was just a coincidence or they blew it with their playing around.
So, looks like I'll be ripping the headlight out later and replacing the globe. Thankfully I do have a replacement at hand.

No idea when it actually blew, other than it was working fine last night and then it wasn't on the way home after the service.
Whether they accidently blew it I have no idea but as I have a trip to Melbourne tomorrow I needed it replaced now.

Luckily I still have the originals from when I swapped over to Osram Night Breaker Plus globes.

I have done quite a few k's since they were last replaced so it very well may have just blown on its own accord.

Anyhow, I've replaced both of them now which took me a whole 20 minutes so no big deal, I'll just jump online now and order some replacements.

Oh, and Gonz...is there an LED equivalent?  :undecided:

Hi Rusty are you capable of beefing up the earthing of the lights?

Don't think it's something I could do these days, mate..... :undecided:
Happy enough not to do it anyhow as I haven't had abnormal headlight blows like some.....

Well, I fired up my i30 this morning and thought it was clattering a bit more than normal....Didn't think too much of it though.
Anyhow, I stopped at Maccas around 3/4hr later and when I fired it up there was this almighty racket and it felt and sounded like it was running on three cylinders...Wtf!

Pulled over and popped the bonnet and the engine was shaking quite badly. Anyhow, I shut it down then fired it back up and it was running ok so I continued my journey. Clattered again the next time I started the engine but soon quietened down....This happened a few more times during the day.
Ran perfectly on the trip back home so will be interesting to see if it plays up tomorrow.

Regardless it looks like I'll be ringing Hyundai first thing Monday Morn....  :undecided:

Never missed a beat today....no clatter on start up whatsoever. It's all very strange.... :undecided:
I'll still contact Hyundai tomorrow...

Well, I contacted the service manager at my local Hyundai and he seemed to think it may have been air in the fuel line.
(the fuel filter was replaced as part of the service) He said sometimes a bubble of air can sit at the top of the filter and suddenly decide to move on causing the problem I had.
He said this can even happen days later....
Anyhow, as there was no problems with it yesterday I'm tending to believe what he said.

Fingers crossed there are no further issues.... :Good_luck:

Rusty, are we worried about metal fragments from the HP fuel pump, which was running dry briefly.

Would it have it been running dry though?

Who knows, if the engine didn't cut out I presume not. However there's a thread about CRD's being fundamentaly flawed by design as the HPFP is after the fuel filter.  :whistler:

And apparenl;y Hy don't see this repair as warranty.

Yeah, at no time did the engine cut out....At worst it sounded like it was only running on 3 cylinders but this only happened once, the other times it was just extra clatter....   :undecided:

Re the fuel pump, where should the filter be then? I would've assumed you'd have it before, but then I ain't no mechanic....  :undecided:

The other thread mentioned this and I must admit, I never saw it as a problem, until it was raised. However, all other brands do the same too, so it shouldn't be a huge issue. What's worrying is Hy are trying to duck warranty.  :fum:
