My 2012 GD i30 CRDi has now had its first service (12 months – 10,000 miles).
All was fine.
It was interesting to find that the total cost of £139 inc VAT was £23 lower than the cost of the first service for my previous FD i30 CRDi in 2011 which was carried out by the same dealer.
Labour costs and work content were identical – but all the parts were lower priced – especially oil - which was £19 less.

Looking at second picture I have spotted annual check. Do they have to be done or can I  just do service every 24 months/20000 miles and keep warranty ?

To maintain warranty you have to have whichever comes first - time or mileage.

yes I know that but all I want to know is if I have to take annual checks into account or just stick to 20000 miles/24 moths ? because if I have to take it into account it means service every 10000 miles/1 year which is not correct for a diesel

Ah ok so its 1 year but how many miles then? is it 10000 or 20000 because 10k seems to be not a lot for a diesel

Every 12 months (whatever the mileage) or 20,000 miles (whichever comes 1st)

Well I believe your 2012 model is a 20k interval. My 2008 is 12.5k and others inbetween have (iirc) been 10k.

What does your own service booklet say about this?

So then  how should I look at this annual check on second picture its showing as 1 year 10000 miles : confused

I need clarification on this
My car will be serviced on November 2013 ( first annual check I will clock about 12000 miles) then 2nd ( routine service will be when vehicle is 2 years old or 20K miles -- 20k will apply in this case I will clock it on about June- July 2014) so the question is when 3rd ( annual check) service will be due? will it be when the vehicle will be 3 years old ( November 2015 )  or a year from 2nd service ( June-July 2015?)

It is based on mileage or age whichever comes first from the last service.

So in your case because of your early service due to mileage, i would expect you service will be 20k later or 12 months from date of actual 2nd year service, ie. June/July 2015.

Just been having another look at this.

Now the service schedule book shows as follows:
12 months interim maintenance check.
24 months or 20k miles (whichever occurs first) no service description provided.
36 months interim maintenance check.
48months or 40k miles (whichever occurs first) no service description provided.

It also says:
Each year (12 months) If at the interim the car has covered less than 10k the oil and filter is replaced.
So if 10,001 you don't but have to wait util the next service?

However, the service schedule i got at the first service shows:
12 months 10 k
24 months 20 k
36 months 30 k
48 months 40 k

So i'm now confused re time period as it would indicate in this case if you don't do mileage then the 3rd service would be 3 years from purchase not 12 months from last service.

Anyone got a definative answer!

You should get that clarified. I guess the 10k, 30k, 50k etc should be marked as "interim" in which the oil/filter may or may not get changed.

At 12 month and 36 month and every 24 months interim maintenance check and oil and filter change ONLY if mileage is LESS than 10k.

So the question is why if your mileage is MORE than 10k since major service is oil NOT changed as I would expect the higher the mileage the oil will be less effective

That iswhat I would like to know ;/ I have send email to hyundai but they just provided me schedule in pdf ;/ anyone knows?

eye30 on page 1 it says:
Maintenance intervals occur every 12 months, this is from the date of first registration of the vehicle and thereafter from the date or mileage the vehicle was last serviced

In my book it doesn't make it clear re date of registration or date of last service.
Now to me this is important to staying within the warranty terms.
As i said in previous post when i had previous car i was told from date of service but it would make it clear to owners if this was included in the service book.

Can you scan in this section and post please.

I believe it's annually from the purchase date as the schedule shows cumulative ages 12, 24, 36 etc. and earlier if distance is reached 1st. As far as filters, if it was 10000 or 10001, I have them and the oil changed.

Thanks, the same as my book.

I thought they may have amended the book since i bought my car.

As i say above it  is vague  whether the  period is from date of first registration but it implies this but i think if i was in this position i would be requesting clarification from hy hq.

I have received email from UK Hy HQ :

Hi Konrad

The 1st annual check is due at 10'000 miles or at the 1st anniversary of registration, which ever comes sooner.

The 3rd annual check is due at 30'000 miles or at the 3rd anniversary of registration, which ever comes sooner.

The 3rd routine service is due at 60'000 miles or at the 6th anniversary of registration, which ever comes sooner.

I hope this helps,

I have asked them if thats the case why there is no mention about this 10k 30k requirement in service book also asked them why ( as shown here http://imageshack.us/scaled/large/211/scanrd.jpg ) in service book its say if vehicle cover 20k in first 12 months the maintenance check is not required. Now Im confused :(

Me as well..............

Did you specifically ask re your situation when exactly is the 2nd interim due,

i.e. at 36 months from registration or 12 months from last actual service if you do not invoke the 20k mileage condition.

that's one of reply I received :

All subsequent services would be due either by miles or age, which ever comes sooner.
If you have had your 20'000 mile routine service in June 2013, you would be due an annual check at either 30'000 miles or at the 3rd anniversary of registration, which ever comes sooner.

For example, if you have reached 30'000 miles by January 2014, this is when your annual check would be due, bringing it forward from June.
This would in turn amend your service dates, therefore, if you then reach 35'000 miles by January 2015 you would still be due the 40'000 mile / 4th year routine service.

Do you understand it because I don't

Still waiting for reply regarding

received few emails and basically it  is 10k miles or 1 year but still they didn't told me why there is no mention abouot it in book ;/ maybe tommorow
emails from hy uk :
1 I asked which booklet you were viewing so that I could access the information.

Your service booklet is correct, what the statement is referring to is that if you have done 20'000 miles by 1 year old, then the maintenance inspection would not be due when the vehicle is one and the full service would be due, this is as this should of been done when the vehicle reached 10'000 miles.

2 The first maintenance inspection will be due when your vehicle has reached 10'000 miles or 1 year old, which ever comes sooner.

so again will oil and filter change will have to be repleced on my car?? I will cover 10K in August and car will be 1 year old on November ;/

As I mentioned above I'm going to service my car approx. on August do you know if anti perforation inspection will be at the same date or will I have to go to do it when the car will be 1 year old ( November 2013)

Answer from Hyundai where I bought my i30 2012 diesel:

The car can go up to 2 years or 20k before a service, but it depends on the miles.

Hmmm?
