Is there a seperate charge for the Gasket Oil Plug, because if there is I would query it,as here when you buy and oil filter,Ryco,SFS or Genuine Hyundai, the box it comes in has the filter the two rubber seals for the oil filter housing AND the gasket for the sump Plug.

I'm to lazy to convert Pounds to Au Dollars so can't tell you whether this is epensive or cheap, but I know here,if I supply my own consumables,it save a min of $200(I think that is about 90 pounds)

Were you offered either the fixed priced 3 or 5 year service deal?

Check it out on the hy uk web site and see if you qualify whether you can save ££££

I was told I was too late to qualify for the fixed price service plan.   I think the costs are quite high, I mean  £402.81 for the 40k/48 month service!!!  For that price do I get bikini babes washing my car for the rest of the year?   :happydance:  Now I know how much they charge I will definitely get my own parts and get the local garage to service it.    P.s I've also added the cost in ozzy dollars.   :goodjob2:

Ta Lester - that link worked

To make a comparison I have to determine just how many services my car will need in 5 years - or 50,000 miles which is the limit of the plan, because I am averaging 14,000 miles per year.  It will be important to have the main services done at the prescribed mileages to maintain the warranty - so here is the result.

I believe the main service schedules are every 24 months or 20,000 miles with a 12 month time based service in between. (that is at 12, 36 and 60 months).

My car was first registered 15/05/13 so if I take the service specified periods literally (which I will not) :-

My first service will be due on 15/05/14 by which time the car will have done 14,000 miles (12 months after delivery)

My second service (distance based) will be due on 15/10/14 when I reach 20,000 miles (5 months from the last service)

The third service (time based) is due on 15/04/2015 by which time my car will have done 28,000 miles (7 months from the previous service)

The fourth service (distance based) will be due on 15/09/16 when I reach 40,000 miles (16 months after the previous service)

The fifth service (time based) is due at 60 months equals 18/05/18 (20 months after the previous service) by which time the car will have done 70,000 miles

Hence - if I buy the service plan I would need to slot in at least one and perhaps two extra services into the 60 month period to avoid running the car for more than 12 months without a service.

*********************************************

If I don't buy the service plan the car would be serviced as follows :-

Delivery date                                        15/05/13

First service at 10,000 miles                  15/02/14 (9 months from delivery)

Second service at 20,000 miles              15/10/15 (8 months from last service)

Third service at 30,000 miles                 15/07/15 (9 months from previous service)

Fourth service at 40,000 miles               15/03/16 (8 months from previous service)

Fifth service at 50,000 miles                  15/12/13 (9 months from previous service)

Sixth service at 60,000 miles                 15/08/17 (8 months from previous service)

Seventh service 70,000 miles                 15/05/18 (9 months from previous service) Coincidentally the Warranty expires on that date.

So what do you conclude from those facts?

Ahh but you don't have 12 or 24 month service if you do more than a certain mileage.  Only 24 and 48 month one.

Or am i reading that incorrectly

Didn't we have a thread discussing this.....

The outcome was, if i read it right, you only have a service at 12 months if you do less than 10k miles.
If 10,001 you do not have a service until 24 months or 20k miles, whichever is first.

This criteria is then applies to decide service intervals for the life of the car.

So - you pay full wack for the service plan and only get half of it....surely not.

Wayne, remember to add the price of an MOT to the 3/4/5th services  :faint:

I would also ring round a few other Hyundai dealers, although the services are set on time based costs many will offer discounts for regular work. I think your 3rd one for £138 is very good but 4th year is way over the top.

I agree Sean, the £138.68 seemed fair but £420.81 for a few extra filters is just crazy!!!  And they didn't mention the M.O.T  so that will be extra on top of the prices quoted.   I understand if I get it serviced at a non hyundai garage I have to use genuine parts.   :goodjob2:

Yes.

Be careful as if you do not comply with the t&c they may reject any warranty claim.

Full t&c's are detailed in the service book.
I.e.
Genuine parts
Correct speci on fluids
Vat registered garage
details clear on invoice as to work carried out
Etc

The garage close does loads of work for cars still under warranty, its the parts themselves that worry me a little.  The only way to use genuine parts would be to buy them from hyundai/kia.  I have a genuine blueprint air filter and I compared it to the one that's in my car, its exactly the same but the one in my car has hyundai/kia printed on it.  I bet I have to get the same one.

The current Hyundai servicing conditions......

Maintenance and servicing

To ensure the continued reliability and safety of the vehicle, certain routine maintenance and service operations are required at specific mileage or time intervals, using parts which meet Hyundai technical performance and quality specifications. It is the responsibility of the vehicle owner to ensure that the vehicle is maintained in line with the required Hyundai Motor UK Ltd. maintenance and service operations and schedules.
The new vehicle warranty may be invalidated and the safety and reliability of the vehicle adversely affected if maintenance and servicing is not performed in line with Hyundai Motor UK Ltd. requirements.

We recommend that the vehicle owner take the vehicle to a Hyundai Authorised Repairer who has specific Hyundai expertise, training and specialist equipment and will fit parts of the correct specification and quality in order to ensure that work is carried out to the standards Hyundai requires and you expect.
The vehicle owner may choose an independent service provider to provide routine maintenance and service and to fit alternative parts, however any parts used that may affect the vehicles warranty, must be of an equivalent quality to the Hyundai genuine parts.
Warranty repairs can only be carried out by a Hyundai Authorised Repairer.

It is the responsibility of the owner to ensure that routine maintenance and servicing is carried out in accordance with the terms and conditions of the warranty.  In the event of a claim under the Hyundai warranty, proof of maintenance and servicing in accordance with Hyundai Motor UK Ltd requirements will be required.  Therefore it is the responsibility of the vehicle owner to ensure all documentation and invoices are kept and up to date and are available to be presented to the Hyundai Authorised repairer.

The following details and documentation must be available:
The Hyundai Owner's Routine Maintenance Information Booklet must be completed at each scheduled service time with the following:
Vehicle Registration
Date of Service
Mileage
Service provider stamp
Service provider Technician signature

Independent Service Provider Invoices and associated documentation must include:
Name and Address of Service Provider
Details of the vehicle (i.e. VIN, Registration and Mileage)
The date the Service was carried out
Details of the work carried out (i.e. What service has been carried out)
Details of all parts fitted (which must include: Parts numbers, Description, manufacturer name and individual costs.
Details of all fluid replaced and the specification and manufacturer (i.e. Engine oil, Transmission oil, Antifreeze etc)
Copy of the service check sheet showing that all of the Hyundai Motor UK Ltd. service schedule and requirements have been carried out.

Independent Service Provider proof of competence:
Membership of a recognised UK motor trades organisation or industry association which monitors standards and working practices in automotive maintenance and service provision
Technician qualification from a recognised UK training provider in automotive maintenance services, to the appropriate level for the work performed

Important Information:
The inspection and testing of certain electronic fuel injection/engine management and automatic transmission control systems require specialised electronic equipment specifically designed for Hyundai vehicles. The use of general-purpose electrical test equipment may result in damage to the control unit microprocessors

P.s thanks for the info Alan ho.  Its interesting to know about this section of the terms  "The vehicle owner may choose an independent service provider to provide routine maintenance and service and to fit alternative parts, however any parts used that may affect the vehicles warranty, must be of an equivalent quality to the Hyundai genuine parts"   The parts I've purchased are top quality and equivalent (if not better) as hyundai ones.   :goodjob2:

I have fixed price servicing on the Toyota for 3 years at A$130 per 15K service (all up) Wayne  :happydance:

However, with the Wifes CW I just take it to a reliable independent and supply own parts and oil. Did the same with our previous i30 and numerous cars before.. :goodjob:

TBH Wayne the parts are not that dear for Hyundai, I had all my pads changed by a local mechanic and the pads all round came to £80 and gave the mechanic a drink for fitting them, other pads were coming in at around £60-70 for a decent brand.
If you go local then really make sure they understand the need for C3 oil and genuine Hyundai filter it's the most important thing, the garage I use is a mate and he has had links with Hyundai UK they have had 3 i30's in with blown engines in recent months all with incorrect oil in them, a local doing a service for £99 can't be using correct oil as it's just not possible to supply parts genuine for these prices.
Apart form tyres and pads my cars go to the dealers once per year and I pay the prices for a year worry free motoring.

Just booked a 40,000 mile service for my I30 1.6 CRDI - basically £350 all in at my local Hyundai dealer.  Its a bit more than I remember the 20,000 mile one being, but not over the top compared to other cars I have had.  I'm getting through the miles (40,000 in less than 16 months).  When I bought the car they looked at doing a quote for the fixed price service plan, looking at what would need to be dealt with at each service (some things are time related, so are mileage related).  I think it was an over-eager service manager though as he was getting tied up in difficulty to convert it into a plan, so I didn't take it in the end.

The service plan provided by hy uk details what is included at each service interval, time or mileage.

Due to your anticipated high mileage were they trying to do a bespoke plan for you?

Yes - they were trying to do a bespoke plan as over 5 years I would expect to be sailing way over 100,000 miles so the services would need to cover more of the mileage related bits and pieces.  It was a nice idea but ultimately didn't happen, as I said.  Still, I am not finding the service prices too bad.

I should clarify - they were trying to put together a bespoke fixed price plan, not to develop a whole new servicing requirement just for my car, obviously.  High mileage is one thing, but the service requirements are the service requirements
