GOT PROBLEMS OR ISSUES? => DIESEL => Topic started by: j.d.r on December 30, 2021, 06:46:28

I have a 2011 I30 (1.6 CRDI Comfort) with a squeaking noise.
I only hear the noise when turning the steering wheel left.
I usually only hear it when I first drive the car. If I stop for 15 minutes or so, when I start driving again, the noise returns. After driving for a few minutes, the noise goes away.
I have taken the car to a mechanic on multiple occasions, but because the problem is intermittent, the mechanic is unable to hear the noise first-hand.
Any ideas?

quick check - make sure the panel under the dash down by your feet isnt rubbing on the column. it has some foam backing that can make a funny squeak.
failing that - go in head first under the column by the pedals and look up at where the joint goes through the bulk head - steer if you can while in that position (engine off, handbrake on for safety) - does that give a clue to source?
