Earlier this week i painted and installed a genuine lip kit that included all fittings to my FD i30.
It arrived painted a factory skyblue colour. I decided to repaint it in a Flat/Matte Black colour with Plastidip because i couldn't be bothered with Prepping and Priming. All i needed to do using plastidip was make sure it was cleaned thoroughly before i could apply the necessary 4 coats.

I also have some New(Used) Shoes going on it soon too haha =P
Picked these up for a bargain of $100 off good old gumtree!
They Measure 18x8, wrapped in 235/40ZR18 tires. Not too sure about the offset size but when test fitting they sat flush with the guards  :happydance:
They're not in the best condition and was also thinking of plastidipping these haha

Looks fantastic!
How long did the whole process of fitting and prepping take you?

Ps. that is an absolute bargain for the wheels!!

Also meant to ask, what will you be doing with the old shoes?

Thanks Ryane,
The Plastidipping took me about a total of 1 and a half hours which included letting each coat dry before applying the next. Not much prepping besides wiping each lip down with wax and grease remover.
The wheels were posted on gumtree for less than half an hour and i was lucky to be bored out of my mind when i decidede to have a browse haha

Also meant to ask, what will you be doing with the old shoes?

Not too sure yet, But i will PM you if or when i decided to let go of them  :goodjob:

Wow, not long at all. Might lookinginto doing something similar with the FD! Besides the wheels i have on it have not done anything to the exterior so far. except lower it a tad.

Talk about being in the right place at the right time i guess  :happydance:

Cheers mate.

Thanks Guys :)

Browsing through these forums it seems like everyone is chasing after the stock 17s haha might need to auction them off ;)

UPDATE!
My chrome handles i ordered off good old eBay came in today. Contemplated putting them on just because i thought they would turn out looking tacky haha. I'll let the results speak for them selves!

They simple stuck on with 3M double sided tape. I'm happy with the results. Just waiting on some wheel nuts to arrive before i can put my new rims on, so keep a close eye for there are more updates to come soon :)

The chrome handles are a cheap and effective Mod. We put them on the wife CW over 2 years ago (still like new and no hint of falling off) Look great on black :goodjob:

You are right.. Should be easy to sell your stock wheel if realistic with the price  :winker:

Thanks for the comments guys  :goodjob:

New updates! :
-My Wheel nuts finally arrived from HongKong haha
They are titanium coloured. Not actually titanum! i don't plan going anywhere fast with this car lol
Wasn't too sure on them but i'll let them grow on me.

-I Put the wheels on and surprised how flush they sit (Front guards will need rolling). Not sure of the offset but they came off an AU Falcon  :undecided:
Going to leave them chrome for now until i find the time to plastidip them in black.
ATM it has 4wd spec stance but i've got my eyes on a set of coilovers and will be getting a set when tax time comes  :happydance:

-Also had a set of HIDs sitting around so i ordered some new globes of the correct size and threw them on.
They are a 35w 8000k Temp. Kit with LED park lights!

They look very nice, but I don't think I'd want them growing on me.

yeah I would happily buy your old wheels off you if you lived on the "right" side of the country haha Hids look nice and I would love to have them just for the clearer vision but I would be worried about getting fined for them, personally I don't think its worth it.

like the wheels(I'd leave em chrome)IMHO I think you'd ruin them if you blacked them, not sure about the nuts,I would really be worried about the wheel offset though,I wouldn't be loading the car up or going over to many large bumps

I've given in to the opinion of this forum and decided to keep the wheels as they are  :P
This car only gets driven about roughly 5 minutes a day and maybe taken out once a weekend just for a casual cruise haha
I leave all the hard work to my iLoad (in the background).
Dent realise I should have let the shocks settled when I put the car back on the ground with the new rims to see how low it actually sat. Now I'm thinking of just getting lowered King Springs in either a "low" or "super low" type.
Right now it sits higher than a stock i30  :snigger:

I previously had HIDs when I first got the car(almost a year ago) the second day I got it till one of the globes crapped itself and went without it for a month. I haven't had any trouble with the boys in blue... Yet haha but they just give soo much better lighting over the halogens. I'm short sighted to so they really help preventing me crash into things :P

Hey guys, what's your opinion on an aftermarket muffler? Yay or Ney?  :undecided:
I was just thinking of replacing the rear muffler and keeping that and the exhaust tips hidden away?

i have a cat back exhaust on my petrol hatch, sounds great.   what off set are the chrome rims,if they are more than 45+ they will rub on the guards.  :sweating: i have 17x8s with a 45+ off set and 225/45 tyres, and 2" pedders lowered springs. IMO a rim with 42+ off set is the most you should go on an FD i30.

I once had a cat IN my exhaust. Sounded terrible. Sort of a muffled farting kind of sound until it backfired and cleared.

Exhaust note always sounds better once the cat has been let out of the bag
