I must admit I'd never heard the term 'cw' before joining this club.

Once 'estate', always 'estate', for me

I'm with you on this Steve.. It must be something to do with my English Heritage or my late mums influence (she had a snobby side) But I think "estate" sounds posh .. much better than station wagon -said with a nasal Aussie twang   (as we call them over here) or CW which seems to be a Hyundai marketing invention.. Sports wagon also has a nice ring to it.. :D

Interesting. for me "estate" when referring to cars suggests to me either big dogs, Volvo or a tradesman who didn't want to pay the VAT on a van, kinda equivalent to a ute.

My first Scoob was a Sport Wagon, much nicer than estate in my mind..............

Nice upgrade - I'm thinking about something similar.
Did you get the full housing or just the rings and wired them in yourself?
Title: New pics of upgrades :)
Post by: DJHARRY73 on September 21, 2010, 02:09:11
I just got the rings, you have to break the seal of the headlamps insert the rings wire them properly remove the blue ring that comes with original package add some epoxy to assure it will stay in position, re- seal the housing for the headlights , there is some cheaper options with just one ring for each headlamp this is double ring each and you get to pick interior and exterior  color I chose blue inner , white outer I recomend to spend little bit more and go for double rings to stand out from the croud , good thing I became friends with the electrician from my local Hyundai dealership

Nice!
How much did you pay the electrician for the job? They charge ~50 Euros ($65 US dollars) per hour here, quite expensive i think.

250 US$ that was for the angel eyes plus the HID kit he spend probably 6 hours in both jobs

I needed this so bad , I bought a Pioneer AVH4200, since I have a 160 gig Ipod Clasic with around 2500 music videos and many more mp3s wich I dont really care for , it works great displaying the videos on the 7 inch screen it will work with an Iphone, Ipod and has a great menu navigation display. It also has expandability options for navigation and bluetooth, yes I know its not perfect but I will do some cosmetic work later , now I (or my girlfriend or passengers) can enjoy my videos while driving  :) maybe not so safe but it all depends on how you learn how to handle it .

looks great, but our laws wouldn't allow you to drive with it going. I'm sure it would need to be behind the seats and out of the drivers view.   was it hard to fit?

Looks Good ... Guess you just treat it like a GPS while driving..

Can you host those pix via photobucket or similar to keep them from getting lost (as per tutorial in Welcome section and remove them as attachments) There are other reasons for doing it that way too...Thanks

Looks nice!
If you use a tripod, or something steady like a box you can get a much better close-up at night, of the headlights turned on.

QUESTION! - where did you get that awesome looking front lip kit!?

I noticed the Canadian flag on that plate... I've had no luck finding aftermarket stuff for my Touring here :)

The plate you can find here http://www.licenseplates.tv/canada.html (http://www.licenseplates.tv/canada.html) the body kit its not only the front its a full body kit and you can find it here http://hyundai-i30-estate.sgpetch.co.uk/pages/accessories/detail/model=178/category=exterior/accessory=Cross+Kit/id=4808 (http://hyundai-i30-estate.sgpetch.co.uk/pages/accessories/detail/model=178/category=exterior/accessory=Cross+Kit/id=4808) but the problem is they wont ship outside the UK unless you have someone there who can ship it to you , you can do the same as me and ask Matt from this site http://www.koreancarstyling.co.uk/ (http://www.koreancarstyling.co.uk/) to buy it from them and them ship it to you its a huge box but its well worth it figure out about  litte less than US$1000 placed at your door with all fees included

Superb choice of head unit  i find it awesome for controlling the ipod. alsmot as smooth, if not smoother than the stock headunit. We must be on the same wave length DJHARRY, as I 2 am going to be installing a set of these angel eye headlamps in the future :P

the carbon fibre trim around the gear shift is good looking. :) How did you mount your stereo? did you buy a kit or did you just opt for using the mounts with the factory head unit ?

Great picture but that would not be allowed in the UK.

Any vid in view of the driver is forbidden.

The original was kept if you look carefully you can still see some letters on the side but I will take care of that soon :)

Good, i think this is right but what's happening to systems intergrated with luxury cars?
Title: Re: New pics of upgrades :)
Post by: DJHARRY73 on December 03, 2010, 04:50:42
Its not legal in the USA either but as you mention now with all these luxury cars with integrated systems sometimes its not for video playback but they have this big GPS screens that the police around here is so use to see the cars with big display screens , plus all the modifications that people usually make over here, I would have to have a police officer stare at my car park by my side at a red light to really tell that Im watching a video instead of a 7 inch GPS screen (wich is legal here) plus another thing is that the location of the display its not so obvious , worst case scenario with a simple touch of the screen I can go from video display to just hearing music and have the album info display on the screen , I should be alright :)

I guess so :)
I could use a tv in car when in traffic jam and i don't see why it's more abstracting than reading a newspaper (which i do)

I don't understand how there should be any difference between a video screen and a GPS. They are both terribly distracting.

Where did you buy the angel eyes from ? I think I am goign to have to do them myself as shark racing have ran into problems.

I have found a website on Ebay, Automotive Apple? would these be the guys ?

Actually I found them on a korean website but for obvious reasons I ask Automotive Apple to order it from me and ever since he has posted them for sale , he is a good seller you can ask him for options for faster shipment, here in the States even Audi or BMW owners turn their heads to look at my I30 angel ayes hahaha :)

I forgot to mention, you have the option to choose outer and inner circle colors I chose outer blue inner white this will iluminate any white sign in front of you with a kinda light purple color
Title: Re: New pics of upgrades :)
Post by: syecadelic on January 21, 2011, 10:19:15
Is there any chance you could do a 'how to' thread on the isntall of the anel eyes? i got mine last weekend , and wan to make sure I do the best install possible.

e.g. how did you adhere them to the headlight unit inside? super glue?
stick stape?
Title: Re: New pics of upgrades :)
Post by: DJHARRY73 on January 23, 2011, 15:59:03
Yes superglue will be fine you must also remove the blue ring that comes factory for better fitting, you worst problem will be resealing the the head lamp you must do this properly using the same type of glue they use for sealing the windshields it looks like it never dries and it has the  consinstcy of hair gel, ask you local hyundai dealership and become friends  with the electrician there :)

easy stuff, considerig I work in the local hyundai dealership
thanks for the tip with the blue ring removal, best tip ever from here i think ?
goig to take my time and paint the chrome bezel black, like i did before, however previously i damaged the lense baking it to high a temperature, used a heat gun this time, and learnt my lesson.

Hope for no heavy rains for a while , then u will be  ok  as that type of glue has an expanding time process where it will completely seal but after that you will be ok, by the way what color did you get both rings?
Title: Re: New pics of upgrades :)
Post by: syecadelic on February 04, 2011, 10:48:01
White side lights, amber indicator :)
think I need to take them out and re-seal :( just after they went in sever rain hit home :(  resulting in a tad inner condensation
