Nice idea but the comments after partly explain why it hasn't happened yet.

With service intervals now punching past 15k and then there is fixed price servicing and competition reducing the margin on the sale of new cars, they have to make some money somewhere.

I read a story long ago that BHP offered the car industry stainless steel for an extra $10 per ton and they wouldn't have a bar of it. :eek:

I think it was more along the lines of the same metal but with rust inhibitor or some other alloy solution that would mean the cars wouldn't rust. Naturally, the industry said 'no way'. :Pout:
