Hi all, was looking for a setting for the large 50mm front suspension hub lower ball joint.

Thank you for any help given.

Not quite sure i know which part your asking about.
There are no 50mm fasteners on an I30.
If you could supply a picture id be happy to get you the correct torque spec, torquing is extremely important and something a scary number of people tend to not care about.

That Moyley Syruss is always torquing two. Seems to be quite the in thing. But don't post  any videos of you blokes doing it. Some things can't be unseen. :head_knock:

PS. I couldnt find a torque setting in the workshop manual on GDS software (for some reason, my version doesnt show any manual data for 2011/2012 models). The 2010 model when the balljoint change occured, only shows the 2 bolt version in the manual on GDS.

I tightened mine with a spanner tight, but I did put 4 small drops of medium strength locktite on the threads first.

I had to heat around the base of the balljoint to remove the old one as its was sodding tight.

PS. Use a OEM genuine part either Hyundai or Kia, the aftermarket parts have the wrong profile on the plastic cap inside the balljoint and doesnt screw home correctly. The Kia part i used, came with a new metal shield but no new nut or split pin.

Looks like CZECH Factory European Market had that change 01Mar09- 31May12

Yes that is the torque setting I am looking for.

Thank you all for your banter and replies, I will be sure to buy only genuine parts for my car when it comes to it.

I have now seen a few dust covers splitting on these joints and the aftermarket ones don't cover the original correctly.
