280 kph
6 full rolls
that tyre was flat before he lost it, then the bare rim dug in and flipped the car.

Looks like rain, too.

Bet they'll be looking closely at everyone's tyres for a while but it was probably just a puncture - may even have been damaged in the run off the line by another car.

That was an impressive call Trev (spot on)   (none of the commentators made that call before it was established)

For a minute I thought you had made that call before the race started  (then realised you are not on daylight savings)

The commentators all focussed on Tander's slow start but I saw the melee going on down the back as well and could see a car didn't move with others going every which way.

And yeah. We started at 9.30 up here not 10.30.

Sure do.
When you look at that footage there was a marshall running for his life across the front of the car. It hit his elbow and broke it. Now HE was the lucky one.
But to be honest when you se how the car broke it's back I don't know to this day how Bill Brown wasn't decapitated.

in the very old day's when it was the Hardie 500, the cars were as you drove everyday, if they got a flat tyre they would pull off onto the side of the track and the driver would pull out the jack get out the spare and change it himself. imagine what it would have been like if he had a space saver in the boot

Hardie 500,

Well, there's a company which has gone from one of Australia's favourites to somewhat "on the nose" in recent years.

QFT!

but you have to look at what they did and realise, they knew the dangeous nature of the material, but still continued to produce it... then to mess victims around with their compensation claims... thats pretty wrong!

That was my point exactly.
They had the world at their feet and then threw it all away.

bloody defectors!

Yeah I feel a bit that way, too, but it was Ford which pulled the funding for their team a couple of years back which precipitated the change.
One of the biggest faux pas in Australian motoring history IMO.

I like Lowndes. Never liked Skaife but since he's been commentating for 7 he's grown on me a bit, so I'm happy to see them win.

BTW. Mark Webber - 2nd in Japan so retains and extends his lead in the title race with three rounds to go.

Funny but that's how I feel about Skaife too (wife goes for Skaife, I go for Lowndes and Courtney) So both pretty happy with results..

Good about Webber too... :D

i like ford , but good to see Lowndes win good guy.
the end of the race was borring as they just follow in line no overtaking. i find the MotoGp more exciting to watch no safty car no pit stops just hard flat out racing lot of overtaking. but everyone to what he likes.

rallying... the sport of kings!

thats where everything is unpredictable... the track changes every time a car runs on it... animals, people, water crossings, snow, mud, dust, rocks! its there! no perfect asphalt! no banked corners, no sand traps, no armco! just you, a co-pilot and nature, and your skill!!!!
