It is a good decision. I remember doing the same thing when I was younger - selling my nice car for a house and it was well worth it in the long run.

 :whsaid:

I forgot that we did that too  Traded a near new car for an older one in 1986 to help finance the first house we built. Finances quickly turned around and we upgraded again within about 12 months  :happydance:

Thank you! Hoping for the same here Dazz  :)

PS: What's with the avatars? I see many of you have pictures of yourselves (I think), when you were young. BTW, Dazz, you haven't changed a bit  :whistler:

Think I started it.. I was having a clean up in my office and found some pictures from when my Mum got re-married (I was 10 y/o)

I particularly liked that picture so living with it on here and facebook and a few other places for now.

Yes, accim I hope you get good fortune, my wife scored a good paying job at the time running a Video shop and I think I had a promotion too  :happydance:

Chinese guys are the owners now  :D, so Volvo is a Chinese car, which is being assembled in Sweden
an info from W
in August 2010, Ford completed its sale of Volvo to the parent of Chinese motor manufacturer Geely Automobile for $1.8 billion

Interesting.
Geely are selling cars in Australia but as far as I'm aware, only in WA because ours is the only state that doesn't insist on 5 star safety rating which Geely cars don't meet.

John Hughes sells them, much as he started selling Hyundai in 1985.
No doubt Geely will lift their game and meet the safety legislation at which time you'll start to see them in other states & territories.
They are cheap though.

Volvo was Swedish back then, but the S40 was built in Holland, at least the ones for the European market.

One of the bigger and better models in Wiki looks like it is based on the previous model Kia Cerato  :undecided:

My previous Hybrid was only 4 stars  :-[ no rear seat belt warning lights in the rear..

The new one is 5 stars (7th - knee airbag + seat belt warning for all seats etc...)

I was listenening to an interview with a guy from the RACWA and he said that WA was the only state whose safety legislation allowed the Geely to be sold as in all other states the car failed to meet their respective safety legislation.
Whether that is 3 star or 4 star or 5 star, I don't know.

Debatable.
If you had a mint XA GT you could swap it for a house.
