Hi from Oz. We just deposited on a Jan 2012 build i30 FD CW Auto CRDi but are yet to take delivery off it (maybe in 2 weeks). I struggled with buying the old model now or the new one due out later this year but with the prospect of paying $6,000 more and getting the first of a new model vs the old tried and trusted version we went with the old. We cant wait to own and drive our very first diesel depsite the fact they charge much much more for it over here!!!...Thanks for having this website available. It helped me decide on the car.

Welcome Yogi,
I lost my Hyundai virginity almost 4 years ago when I got my great little CRDI hatch.
At that time it was one of the first of the current model and it looks like you might be
getting one of the last of what remains to be an extremely popular and reliable unit.
Glad you like the forum.
Cheers, Russ

Welcome Yogikob (interesting moniker..)

Having previously owned a CRDi Hatch for 28 months and now having a 2.0 Petrol CW for the last 12 months I believe a Diesel CW is the pick of the litter (I would have gone the Manual though)  :winker:

I'm sure you won't be disappointed  :goodjob2: :goodjob:

Thanks to all of your replies. I have a huge grin on my face. We cant wait to take her for drive up the coast for some fish n chips and an icy cold Chardonnay on the beach!!! If I figure how to post it here I will take a pic of the car when it arrives. BTW - Do they do a small front nudge bar? One that sits below the bonnet lip and reduces the risk of pedestrain injury?

I think there is something you can use, but not an official Hyundai one that I know of, are the road legal over your wrong side of the world?

Again folks thanks for the replies. I already have a warm fuzzy feeling about this community. Another question I had was in regards to failed airbags. There are a few blogs on the web that raise the issue with Hyundai's but nothing raised about the i30. No need to be concerened I guess?

Failed airbags has not surfaced as a problem with the i30 as far as I am aware. As far as Hyundai goes it could be a perception thing.. Only the airbags that need to go "off" do so and only when they need to.

That is Curtain airbags will probably not go off in a head on collision and Drivers and passenger airbags will also not go off if the head on accident is only minor.

yep, warranty is there to protect you... if the air bag doesnt :P

Can guarantee the first i30 our family owned had working air bags  :goodjob:

though I think they are the sort of thing you take for granted, can't exactly check them like you do your handbrake...

wonder what the ground would be in a severe accident, were your badly injured, due to the air bag not deploying when it should do? Compensation from the Car manufacturer?

Cynic... the newspapers have not caught hold of the airbags not deploying... not that I've seen anyhow.

Being an ex Fiat driver I wrongly assumed the OP meant there was an Airbag warning light showing... very common on Fiats. Or even that they went off prematurely... almost unheard of... Humble appologies Mr 84...  :winker:

I've seen them around; but as far as I can tell they're an aftermarket accessory. Almost positive on that fact.
