It's not new anymore, it's a used junk now!  There you can see my average fuel consumption from new. It's a bit high because of the break-in period and winter conditions.

However, now I decided to reset the consumption gauge to see what it takes now. After driving 40 kilometers, which had 5 km in the city and few kms in country roads and rest in the highway about 85 km/h, I got just 4.1 liters per 100 km. So, it really can do under 4 liters at long trips in the highway, but my driving pattern and frequent DPF regens will keep the average around 5 liters even at the oncoming summer. Not to mention the ISG which I put always off (at least when I remember)...

Spring has arrived.  These photos are taken in same places as those winter ones in reply #49 of this thread. All the snow has melted away so the scenery looks a bit different now. In next few weeks the nature will come alive, again making the scenery look different when that yellowish brown color will be replaced by bright green. At this time of the year those dirt roads can get soft and muddy because of frost heaving and melting snow, but this one wasn't bad at all, except that loose gravel isn't a nice thing.

Is there much gravel road where you live? (99% of our roads are sealed these days)

Highways and regional roads are all paved, but there's also many small gravel roads on sparsely populated countryside. There's no point to make pavement to a road which has very low traffic, maybe 10 cars per hour. Making a good pavement is expensive because the roadbed soil must be changed from deep enough to minimize frost heaving in winter. If saving expenses there, the pavement will be full of nasty cracks and potholes after a year or two, while a well made one can last 20 years without much damage.

However, I don't have to drive on gravel roads much, probably 2% of my driving goes on them. Busy highways just aren't the best places to stop taking photos of my i30.

Would appreciate pictures later in the year, from same location, to see how the landscape has been transformed.

Great views especially with given the main subject in them.....

I was planning to do that. You can also view this location in Street View, however there's no i30 in those pictures.

I was testing the sleeping capabilities of i30, with good results. By folding down the rear seat and completely removing the bench part, there's 185 cm of flat space which is more than enough for me. My head however will be slightly over the edge, so I need to extend the neck support and use double pillows. This was also one of many things which I checked before final decision to purchase the i30.

I'm planning a road trip to northern Finland, Norway and Sweden in July, including visiting in Nordkapp, which will mean sleeping several nights in my car. There's plenty of small forest roads and other places where I can go for night and most likely will not be disturbed. A visit or two to camping sites will be needed however, so I can have a shower and better sleep in a cabin.

That's great, but not concerned about your safety/privacy?

30 years ago I wouldn't have been worried about my safety in situations like that, but some terrible things happen now!  :sweating:

In such a trip into north there's much bigger risk to collide with a reindeer than to be robbed at night in the middle of nowhere.

However I would be a little concerned to do it in southern Finland or Sweden where it's not so easy to find a secluded spot without any residences nearby. Also in recent years there has been problems with burglars and beggars coming from Eastern Europe, which could be dangerous if they stumble into the same location. They have however not yet spread into far north, because they need to get quick out of the country after doing their "job".

Enjoy your trip to Nordkapp, Tohis.

I'm not sure the i30 bed looks comfy, but I'm sure it'll work for you.  ;)

Actually, the previous owners of our caravan towed it here from DK to Nordkapp a few years before be bought it.

Surely it's not the same as sleeping at home, but I have slept in my previous Nissan Almera sedan which had less space for that.

When I reach Nordkapp, I try to find a parking spot near the live webcam so you can spot me and my i30 from there!

As requested, here are the summer versions of those photos posted earlier.
(Winter pictures at reply #49, spring ones at reply #64 of this thread)

As a bonus, an another photo after moving 300 meters forward. That white house on the left is the same as in the first photo.

The summer of 2015 is now official!  :happydance: Early June is the most beautiful time of the summer at here, when everything is bright green, except the dandelions which are bright yellow!
