Hello buldog180 and welcolme, what car did you 'scrap' to get the es? what other cars did you look before ordering your i30 and why did you finaly decide Hyundai ? Just interested as I have never owned a Hyundai before my i30, I love it's looks the way it drives, 5 year warranty and great value for money. It stopped me becoming an Astra/Focus/Golf sheep !!

Hi sparki
I am scrapping a 1997 peugeot 406 2.1Lx diesel and we looked at the focus/astra/ceed/clio and grand punto to name a few. The reason we settled on the i30 was because of all that come as standard on the i30, but are extras on most other makes and even though it is a smaler car than the 406 it still has as much room inside for the family and the boot space is just as good. We also got a very good deal using the scrappage deal.

Like you the ESP as standard was a BIG deciding point for me.
I believe HY UK could see for a few extra quid by adding extras as standard they would see a big take up in the medium car market

Well come the end it was between the i30 and the ceed and the extras on the i30 outweighed the 7 year warranty of the ceed. Apart from that they are pretty similar cars

When you look at parts you will see both Hyundai and Kia's name on them.

Now - as they both use the same bits and pieces I wonder if the cost is the same for the exact same part number at the different franchised dealers.

Has anyone priced up the same part number at a Hy and Kia dealer yet?

We did say about the ceed to the salesman while we were on our test drive and he told us that hyundai either own or make cars for Kia.
