Apologies if this is the wrong place for such a question or if its been asked and answered before. I checked and couldn't see a response so here goes. I'm guessing the increased power and torque in the current diesel is mostly revised engine management software. Is this new engine map applied to existing i30's as part of the service. If so do I need to ask or will it just happen?

Car is due for a service shortly and it would be good to know if its possible to score a few extra kw.

Only guessing Keith, but that would be too easy! I doubt VERY much that they will do it automatically or even if asked. I'm assuming there are probably some small mechanical tweaks as well. Hopefully Tim will see this and advise. :cool:

No idea what they changed to get the extra power.

There is no update. Sorry.

Compression has dropped on the newer higher output Diesels so I doubt its just the matter of a software update.

There has definitely been some minor mechanical changes too.

They may have REFRESHED your software, much as you do when you reboot your computer and as if by magic it all works much more efficiently.  I don't know anything tho so don't listen to me  :rofl: :rofl: :rofl: :rofl: :rofl:

@ttc
There is an ECU update for engine idle stability. I imagine this is what they have done.

Heya,
Is this for the GD or the FD?

For the FD does anyone know what ECU updates there have been if any since 2009? No idea if my vehicle has had these done if so.
