Title: Meyle cabin filter
Post by: eye30 on May 19, 2017, 17:15:46
Anyone used this brand?

I ask because today i bought one and when i took it out of the box i find that on 2 opposite sides there are what appears to me 2 extended flaps.

On one is an arrowe showing direction of air flow.

The filter will not slot into the grove with the flaps up.

If i bend to lie against then they just spring back.

If i bend back and slot into grove the rear one just springs back and i can not replace the cover.

Now the options are
Cut off or bend back and stick with tape.

If i bend back this then shows the arrowe direction in the opposite direction.

Views re suggestions on correct fitting appreciated.

I haven't used that brand but it's still the same design as others I've used, the flaps should already be folded down like you've done and that is the direction of airflow once folded.

Shouldn't need the tape if you give the folded edge a good squeeze between your fingers.

Even giving them a strong person squeeze they still spring up.

The end piece and the flap looks like they have been reinforced with a strenghtener.

I've got it in and the cover on.

I'll leave alone until i check say in 6 months....

Not having seen or touched a cabin air filter yet, I'm thinking the tabs folded and being spring would assist is sealing off the edges and anti-rattle so it's all snug ?

37-12 319 0018 says it's replacing  97133 2H000
I think your could be 97133 2H001 and from what I've manage to read so far 97133 2H001 and 97133 2H000 interchange.
