"And with two potentially game-changing vehicles – the Indian-made i20 light car and the mid-sized Sonata replacement, the i45 – in the pipeline for release mid-year, Hyundai seems set to make further waves before 2010 is out."

I think all i20's are made in India?

Plus I think they too are in the 21st century now.

No need to be sorry. I just find India a fascinating country of two halves. I spent a 6 month project working with people from Mumbai and they were probably more westernised, and certainly had more gadgets than me  :)

Just looks a little different from the ones out in the market. I like this look better the grill looks better as well as the headlights are better looking.
But it does say that it is a concept.

Without the creases in the grill it looks a bit too much like a Camry.. I think they will grow on you..

I believe these 6 photos are all "in the flesh shots" I think I'll be getting a silver one

This one is modified (but looks pretty cool..)

and a couple of interior shots (I like the lighter interior)

Yea it does a bit I guess, the lighter interior definitely gives it a more fresh and luxurious look. :)

Black interior for me...  The beige looks particularly bad around the driver's window controls and the inserts on the steering wheel   The foot-operated handbrake doesnt do it for me either.  I look forward to a proper look in the flesh of this car and also the ix-35

Hopefully we will get other choices...Black is too dark for me and the wife doesn't like the lighter colour (we might not get the foot operated hand brake..either)

Do we know whether we're definitely getting the diesel? And if so, which one?
When I googled this car, some reports said that Australia might only get the petrol. I hope they're wrong.

My local dealer seems to think they will get the diesel (it's off my Christas Card list & shopping list) if petriol only... :'(

If the Sonata (i45) and Kia Magentis don't come with a diesel option I will have to consider (or at least test drive) A Mazda 6 Diesel or even a Skoda Octavia Diesel...The Ford Mondeo is a nice looker but too dear and Auto only..

As I get older as much as I love my i30 I would like to spoil myself with something a little bigger and more luxurious going forward...

I reckon they will bring in the Diesel with the popularity of the i30 diesel and the Sante Fe being diesel only...

If they do, I hope it's the 2.2 R series with either 6 speed man or 6 speed auto.
I like them in silver & white, slightly bigger rims would nice and better proportioned IMO

Yeah, I like the silver and white .. In the US they have some nice colours including gold and a sort of Ice Blue too (Yum)

I would prefer a manual ...6 speed would be nice...

Yeah, get a manual while you're still young enough for your left leg to work.

I know a guy who's been over there recently to research parts supply for the Australian market and he remains horrified. And is now actively seeking another (any other) alternative.
And on a personal experience note, I can tell you they are years behind in tyre quality (behind China that is).

Is it just me who thinks the i45 is looking rather BMWesque? Probably the sharkfin antenna that's doing it.

Not sure I'm a fan of the shape in general though. Gives me the impression that it would be awkward to park.  :-[

No, I agree, I can see that. But then I can also see Camry in it.

I thought it looked very much like Lexus, particularly the russet coloured one.

This was a similar problem when Wheels rolled a Kluger a few years back, but nothing was done about that.  I guess at the time Toyota were still feeling bulletproof.

My wife, who is cynically astute about most things to do with politics and business has commented that it seems "very convenient" for the struggling American car makers that Toyota is having these problems at this time.

On that basis they are probably stripping down Hyundais in a back room somewhere looking for weakness
